I typically do 3 tours per year on my 1250 TE and have just completed 300 miles on my 1300 TE.

Is the engine braking significantly reduced on the 1300 as I'm using the brakes more than I usually do, even at low speeds?

I find the engine braking more on the 1300 than the 1250. I think it can be different in the various modes. In dynamic it has more engine braking when you shut the throttle than any bike I have had previous.

That's really surprised me. Perhaps I'm in run in mode and not using the revs and/or gearbox. I rarely used the brakes on my 1250 but have to on the 1300...I'll do some more riding !

You’re just going faster than you’re used to, it’s very easy on the 1300 without realizing it
That's a possibility. The fueling is much smoother and the torque thingies are over the entire rev range. Must look at the speedo when next out!

Now I can’t remember for sure, but after the run in service I did spend some time tailoring the various modes for throttle response and wheelie control etc and I might have done something with the MSR setting but even without I think in rain mode the MSR would step in quicker to reduce engine braking just as the traction control or ABS would. I will have another look when next on the bike.
