Santander to Pamplona route recommendations?

A group of us are off on Wednesday 18th to Santander, with our first night in Basuburua which is approximately 15m NW of Pamplona. Does anyone have any suggestions of "must-ride" roads that would be in the right general direction? Are the coast roads between Santander and Bilbao worth the detour? As the ferry doesn't arrive until the afternoon, we can't take too long but I'd love to avoid the autovias.

From Pamplona go South west N240 N260 - and keep going until your face hurts from smiling - wrong direction I know but hell you are on a motorbike
Otherwise buy a Michelin map of Spain and look for any roads with green on them (scenic routes)

No advice on routes, but watch out for the police in the basque region.They wear a blue uniform with red stripes on the trousers.

No one told me until I found out myself. £160 for 12kph over the limit,in a long line of traffic.

I thought they were postmen or something

If you,ve gotta get there and still have time to chill at wherever youre digs are on the first night I would stick to the main routes E70 & A15 ,Pamplona is great for a night out Tapas bars are out of this world brilliant, mind the police and the loonie drivers around Bilbao though I think there is a small section toll as you get nearer to Pamplona..............enjoy
