I think I have yearning for a Cartier and probably the Santos de Cartier watch. With my aging skinny 7-71/4" wrist I think the square design and slim depth would suit.
I'm thinking medium although large would still be ok.
Has anyone any advice or anything out there that might suit? I'd prefer something older than brand new.
I'm looking for daily wear rather than dress watch only. Thanks

Probably not overly helpful, but I bought my wife a pre-owned bi-metal ladies Santos about 10 years ago. She loves it and it’s been utterly reliable so I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

No, that’s fabulously helpful. It’s a brand of Watch I’ve never owned and TBH I’ve lifted away from nice watches and the sort of stuck in the Apple Watch loop. I sold all my night watches but I think it’s time to go back and have a look.

Glad it’s helpful. I’m no expert, but should have added that hers is an automatic, which is possibly not such a big thing for ladies watches, but I’d recommend for you buying a man’s watch. The other thing to know is that many independent specialists are authorised to service or repair them if needed, which will save a lot of money as you won’t need to deal with the haughty arses in Cartier directly or their dealers. Make sure you get one with the full set in terms of box and papers. It’s a buyer’s market at the moment so you should hopefully be able to get something nice. Good luck!

I particularly like the green and gold one. but Roman numerals.

Fabulous

I have always liked the Cartier Santos de Cartier automatic with steel bracelet. Great looking watch, especially with the blue.

This might be useful, helps you size the watch (small/med/large)

Good system and either med or large.

Great all day wear watch, o/e rubber strap bit expensive to replace though 🫣

I bought a Santos with my first ever bonus in about 1986. It was (if I remember correctly) £800 after a 10% discount for having a Lloyd's pass. In 2020 I gave it to my son for his 21st birthday, still running and keeping very good time (although it has been serviced regularly, so probably "owes" me north of £3K)

I’m currently looking at the used market for an older santos in mint complete with all docs and two straps if possible. Please let me know if you know of any.
