First off I'm only 42 and they never hurt before I got this bike with Sargent seats.
Has anyone ever had their hips hurt from the different seating position? I'm in bloody agony constant discomfort.
Just curious. I'm 6"4' BTW.
Getting back to your first question.
My GSA has had a Sargent seat fitted for 2 years. I've done 2 or 3 big trips of 2500 miles without bother not to mention a few 1000 mile long weekends to the Highlands. The seat has been amazing throughout.
Recently I'm struggling when getting off the bike.
Last weekend I attended the Irish event in Connemarra. Fuel stop after an hour and arrival at the event I could hardly walk for several minutes. I told my wife it was def my hip joints which seized up.
Because I expected the discomfort after recent rides, I had brought along my almost obsolete Airhawk for a change.
It really helped my butt, I started sitting on it when I experienced the discomfort after the first fuel stop at one hour.
Riding was ok. But getting off the bike involved big issues with my hips. Could hardly walk for 2 months be. Never had this before on the Sargent seat. With or without the Airhawk.
I'm very close to my 50th birthday and have attributed this to the main reason for the discomfort.
Just this week I've considered a mega trip to India and Nepal, but believed I'm not up to it due to the discomfort.
So, unless you are new to your new seat, bike or UKGSer, there's no need to lay with the seat position.... I know my position was fine or a couple of years. But of late I'm suffering pain in my hips on the bike, usually my Sargent seat makes things better... But today it's a waiting game for me to do a deal with the local mayor.
