The uk importers quote the seat to be upto half inch higher than standard. Nippy Norman's page quotes that they are half inch lower:blast. On my standard GS this is not a problem but should I decided to exchange for a Adventure in the future then it could be an issue.

Currently I have my standard seat on the lower position (because its easier to get on and off with my dodgy back, not because of my height)..... Hence if I should move to the Adventure am I going to need the extra low version.

Thanks in advance:thumb

I think Sargent do an normal and a lower seat for the 1200. I used to ride a standard 12 with the seat in the high position and find the lower Sargent perfect for my needs on the GSA.

I presume 'Steel City' is Sheffield. If you want to look/try before you buy pop down the motorway and you can try mine.

Definitely go for the lower of the seats. The Sergeant is excellent. I have a low front and back on my 1200GS.The comfort margin over the standard seat is huge, quality and looks are brilliant and my phsyio has had to take her kids out of private school!

However, the Sergeant is slightly wider than the standard seat which has the effect of splaying your legs out slightly. So although the published heights per Nippies look similar to the standard seats the Sergeant in practice will mean your effective inside leg for stopping is very slightly reduced. Accordingly if you are at all border line on the seat heights go for the lower seat.

In practice the lower seat can be adjusted upwards to pretty close to standard height and down to the lower height as and when you get your adventure.

If you do go for it be prepared for a bit of a break in period (I reckon about 12 hrs in the saddle). At first I though I had made a pricey mistake but now its bedded in I'm delighted.

PM with your mobile if you want to chat further.

I bought a completely 'regular' - same hight as BuMW standard - Sargent seat from Nippy Norman.

Very comfotable. It packs down a bit with wear.

I have it on the high setting on my 1200GSA, no problem, with 32" inside leg.

I have a regular Sargent on the front of a GS, my 29" inside leg can reach the ground fine. Takes a while to fit one's arse but is miles better than the standard, as it should be at the price.
