I have a pretty good seat (extra foam, gel insert etc) but during a week long Euro trip last year after 3 days by arse was toast and spent a lot of the remainder of the trip on the pegs.

I was still feeling the effects two weeks later.

I am off to northern Italy in the summer and have been considering getting a Sargent seat as the thought of a similar experience does not excite me.

Couple of questions tho:

1. are they any good?
2. where's the best place to get one (at the best price)?
3. is the air hawk worth a punt to save a few £ ?

cheers

Borrow one and see how you go before wedging out on one.

Youre welcome to try mine if you wish, I think theyre brilliant even if they look a bit horse saddle like:D

Well that's very kind, do you have the Sargent or the Airhawk?

I have a Sgt Seat on my F8, it's an improvement on the stock seat. It's okay when standing on the pegs too. The beading can cut in a bit if your wearing thin trousers, but I would suggest an air hawk if your doing big miles. I used my Sgt Seat to Mongolia and Siberia last year, doing big mile days and wished I had an AirHawk as well, I even used my exped pillow on some days. Sgt can be fecking expensive, Nippy Normand sell them. I got mine off eBay but they very rarely come up. If you want proper comfort I would consider a Corbin, not tried one but they look good, albeit expensive and American. You can try my Sgt if you're ever in the area.

Calafornia- Alaska back last year 7500 miles 4 weeks Standard seat + airhawk

As others have posted a t various times it does take a bit of getting used to
Much much less air in it than you might initially think:thumb2

I have a comfort seat on my GS, which I like.

I had a Sargent seat on my Ducati, which my wife (pillion) liked, we now have one on the K1300S and its not half a good.

I got a eBay special, the Sargent seat is good for me doing 500 mile day. Not a complete arm chair but doesn't give me bum acke. I can recommend it

Early days yet, but I've just got a 650 twin with a Sargent seat and so far (300 miles) it's proved to be comfy - more so than the standard seat on just a test ride!
