Sargent seat

Final question.........are you still going to fit the 30mm handlebar risers?

I ordered my new seat from Nippy Norman yesterday, but sitting on my bike last night in the garage, I cant help but think that with the 30mm handlebar risers that I have fitted already it might be like riding a chopper!!!

Then I have a GPS problem, mounted on the Touratech bracket on the crossbrace and the 30mm risers I cannot see the lower part of the RID unit.
So lower the seat another 1/2", as the Sargent seat does, and it will make it worse.....bugger!

Maybe move the GPS unit to the other side of the crossbrace or even look at RAM mounting it......not to keen on that idea though.

On the plus side, sitting lower down will mean better protection by the screen and both my feet will be able to touch the floor now!!

You can do it for less than £436! Just buy the front Sargent seat and a matching rear seat cover. The cover costs around £60 and is easy to fit.

Now that sounds like a plan :thumb
The front seats £229.99 from Nippy or £219.99 direct from Sargent UK (think Nippys cheaper on the p&p)

rear seat cover

I tried to order the rear seat cover direct from Sargent but they will only deal with Calamander. Sean at C was very helpful and got the cover for me in the next shipment. Pretty certain that is was around £60. The covers are on Sargents website - called Sportz Skins or something similar. Pretty straightforward to take off the old cover and replace with the new one. It comes with some plastic membrane to fit on first (you need some spray adhesive) and all you need otherwise is a good staple gun and plenty of staples. The only area where it is tricky to fit is the rear corners where the two seat location stubs make it difficult to get the stapler in.

Motomartin, You still looking for an Adventure seat ?
I've got a Low and Standard height seat, added bonus is that I'm in NSW 2069...just down the road in Castlecove.
Any chance I can pick your brains about valve adjustments?
Can you PM me

Just ordered my front seat from Norman. He didn't have black trim in stock so I'll have to wait for a few weeks but I'm out of the country for a fortnight or so anyway.

And I've ordered an exhaust lowering bracket from Motorworks so, all in all, I'm having a good day :D

Just got back from Elephant Treffen 11 hours just stopping for petrol and a quick drink seat is getting better every day no bum ache at all . Nippy Norman does not charge for postage on the seat

R1150 GS seat

I have been commuting 40 miles a day for the last seven years and always been comfortable on my previous 4 bikes. But after 40 mins on my 1150 GS ADV., I am squirming around to get comfortable. I would love to do some long trips but at the moment I would have to stop regulary. I have the normal seat at present, (swapped back from the low one). Any tips apart from spending £100's on a new seat.

Well it still involves spending money but you can take it from bike to bike.

I have a Melvin Hunter seat on my 1150. Very comfortable on long journeys and looks good to.

He will charge you £135 to re-upholsted and cover your seat, plus £60 for 3/8 inch gel inserts or £80 for 3/4 inch. These prices are for a standard 2 piece GS seat, and are cheaper if you only have gel in one half.

Turn around times are less than a week and I have just sent my 1200 seat for the 'treatment'. If its as good as the 1150 I will be well pleased. I'll post impressions later.
