Anyone else waiting on Sargent releasing the 1200 seat? My arse is killing me on the standard seat...and it's not due to any 'lifestyle' choices either...!

numb bum

Hi

Does anyone have a numb bum?

I find a lot vibration coming through the standard seat after
Only 20 miles I get a numb bum

I find the vibes higher up the frequency range than the 1150
& far more intrusive

Has anyone tried a Corbin?

I have tried the Touratech & Wunderlich seats no luck

Have a custom seat still trying it out but not hopeful

A Corbin or Sargent may be my last hope

Any comments

Jeff

Had my seat rebuilt with 3/4 inch gel by Melvin Hunter. Looks and FEELS far better than the original. Money well spent.

I've ordered a Corbin which should be here in the next few days. I'll let you know - can't stand the stock seat myself.

Jeff

FWIW I have had Corbins on K1200LT, R1150RT, and sold them all because although better on the bum, the fronts are too wide, especially with both feet down, like Really uncomfortable, and yesterday had a sit on Welshmagicians R1200GS Corbin, and exactly the same, too wide at the front. and for what Corbins cost there must be a better solution. Try a good pair of Cyclists Shorts, they even look kinky with all the padding when you disrobe, you'll feel a much Bigger man.:D

Hi
At 28 st 180Kg how big do I need to feel.
I don't like feeling men anyway :D :D :D

I had a Corbin on my 1150gs
I can live with the wide seat, just,
but not a numb bum:peach:

Does the Corbin stop the vibes

I have a Corbin on my GS and although it's MUCH better than the stock seat it's too hard and much too wide at the front. I can't get me feet on the ground far enough to back the bike up. The shape is good toward the rear but in the front it also seems to push too much on the underside of my thighs.

We have three great options in the states. Bill Mayer, Rich Mayer and Russell Saddles. All of these you can send in your pan or do a "drive in" service for a little extra. I've had a Rick Mayer before on an RS and it was great. I'm going to try the Russell on my GS. They are the ones that bought the patent from "dad" Mayer way back several years ago. These "day-long" saddles are supposed to be the best there is.

Yes Bill and Rick are related. They are the sons of the original maker of the day-long saddle.

All of these are hand made and you can custom order many options.

too far for us....

Try Tony Archer in Huddersfield. He'll rebuild your original seat, to your spec, at a fraction of the cost of a Corbin or any other standard design.

Seat rebuild

For what its worth if you need a seat rebuild in the south, I have back problems and with my previous bike ( a Yam 1000gts ) which was known for a horrrid seat, I went to Bumwraps in Bognor Regis, The guy Knew what he was doing sitting me on the bike and varying the angle etc of the seat whilst observing my back whilst on the bike.... What a result, from 100m back and bum ache to 400m stints without, can I say more ? Sorry I dont have their number but as they are on an industrial estate dir. enq. must have.... and they didnt break the bank !
Mike.

I dont think that vibes thro the seat is normal on the 1200 - or at least I dont get any on mine. Was normal on the 1150 though.

May be you need a TB balance. How bad are the vibes through the bars or the footpegs?
