2 week lead time on them at the moment at NN.

" huge demand at present" he said. that's all you sore arsed bastards drumming up business

Just following on from the comments about manly bits getting squashed, I wonder if its to do with the material that is used on the stock GSA seat. The 1150 seat was quite smooth and you could slide around easier. The material on the GSA seat is quite coarse and (esp when its hot) you find your self getting stuck to it and as others have said everything down their gets all squashed up and hot, ive never stood on the pegs so much as i have on the GSA.

Things were better riding in cooler weather on the weekend but still found myself standing up every now and then. Its not that the seat is uncomfortable, just the material maybe?

So would the sergent seat fix these problems?

If it will I want one. Pass the Visa card.

HERESY perhaps.....

can you Sargent seat fans tell me if yours needed any breaking in? (My old Corbins did!)

I only ask because I get pretty sore after 2.5 hrs (straight) in the saddle, but I have only had it a few weeks.

Ben

I think it was more a matter of my arse getting used to it to be honest, though it might get better with age (the seat, that is :D ). One thing with the Sargent is that it's much harder than stock seat, so it'll feel a bit alien at first. I know with mine I was worried I'd made a mistake buying it on my first ride to Cornwall that took 7 hours (dunno how, it was only 270 miles!). The "nutcracker" effect was completely gone, however, an hour in it was uncomfy (though not as bad as the original), 2 hours in it was alright, 3 hours in I didn't even think about it. I got off the bike afterwards, and I wasn't aching at all!
Well, my jaw hurt from the wind on my helmet at a constant 80-90mph (*cough* I mean 70, Officer;) ) on an unfaired bike

Gazzr - I tend to agree with you, I think there's something different about the material. We find it sticks to our (rider and pillion) clothing and is very hot (Queensland weather).

Comments about seats are welcome as we are considering alternatives. I just feel it's a shame that BM don't offer a better seat on this bike.

The Sargent seat is more resilient rather than harder and the shape is different so needs getting used to, however expect a breaking in period of about 1,000 miles/ 10 hours riding.

I'll be contrary here.

My seats didn't seem to need any 'breaking in' and were comfortable right out of the box.

I went from total agony with tail-bone pain with BMW's seats to all day rides with the Sargent.

Just ordered one for the R12GS, I wasn't gonna order it until I've got the bike, but he just said they're not going to be in until after Easter now, and even then he can't guarantee it, so it might be later
Looks like I'm gonna have an uncomfortable introduction into the GS world for a while! So if you're thinking about it, better get your arse in gear (no pun intended :D )

Bit of a HIjack:)
Anyone got a sargent seat on an 1150 GSA and want to sell:D
Or may be lets have a look and sit on it. At £400+ just want to be sure before I jump in and spend the cash.
Thanks.
