Sargent Seats now available.

Cheapskate. Your wife deserves better. :D

Hehe

Strangely the pillion seat is fine, we did five and a half hours on Sunday coming back from Sid’s and she was comfy all the way, my arse however was killing me

I find the coolcover makes a big difference ( for me)
I’ve got some knock offs on at the moment, the ones I had on my 1200 were great but these ones don’t seem as thick :sneaky:

Bit of a bike weekend with a couple of friends so done a few more hours in the saddle

Decided to try flipping the lever thing on the underside of the riders seat to give it a try in it’s alternative position, I think it tilts the angle of the seat forward a bit

Guess what, it’s much better :thumb2

I still wouldn’t call it comfortable but it’s at least acceptable now

That’s saved me a fortune :D

Good to hear it's improved - I've got the heated seat but cannot see anything to adjust. Am I being a muppet?

Yes :D
(couldn’t resist it)

Strangely it seems to be missing from the manual but there’s a lever underneath the rider’s seat, it only has 2 positions, pointing backwards or pointing forwards, it lifts a panel inside the seat

Right - should've gone to Specsavers!
Thanks - I'll try it. On mine it looks like the adjustment (moving lever from the rear towards the front) will lower the back, so assume it will flatten out the seat.
Either way I'll see what happens. (y)

Another thing you can do is get some new rubber mounts for the front of the seat with eccentric holes. Wunderlich sell a kit but you can buy the front rubbers off eBay or AliExpress cheaper. Then you just need to pack the other 4 x seat support runners up a little.
This raises the front of the seat, only 10mm , but I find it makes it flatter and not sloping forwards as much. I think it's better but won't suit everyone. Cheap option to try rather than new seat anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion - I’ll have a look at the Wunderlich kit.
The numb bum affect seems worse than the 1250. The cool cover has helped but I’d like to improve the seat some more.

You can buy the front rubber eccentric bits off eBay or AliExpress & then just need to measure the gaps to the other seat supports and put some bits in to space it off. The Wunderlich kit is just that but £30. :-)

All that money and not even the slightest attempt to match it to the bike. I’ve had three Sargent seats over the years on my GS’s and been disappointed at the ease in which they scuff if your boot catches the thin material, the cheap staples that rust, plus I ended up going back to the original each time. By far the the best aftermarket seat I ever had was a Corbin, years ago on my R1100RT.
Either my 1300 seat is getting comfier or I’m just getting used to it, putting bar risers on appears to have improved things.

Had a Sargent seat on my RT for 7 years, first on my 1200, then swapped to my 1250. All day comfortable, no rusting of anything. Bought mine used though, so not a new outlay.

For me the important point is that the seat matches my arse very nicely. I agree that Corbins can be better, I have had three, but they are not available for the 1300. The seat material on the Sargent is different to those I have had in the past and looks more robust. I agree that the staples rust but that is purely cosmetic and out of sight. Spending £20+K on a motorcycle and being uncomfortable is not something I can live with. It is ridiculous that BMW still, after all these years, cannot make a decent seat (or do they have shares in Sargent?).

Re Corbin - the only seat I've had from them is comfy (not on BMW) but the finishing was very poor. Job looked like it was a back street special. Couldn't recommend them now.

I agree. The ones I have had did not fit exactly and needed adjustment. But once sorted, very comfortable (but heavy with steel seat pans).

Quick follow up on this for anyone interested - I got the Sargent seat recently and took it out for a test yesterday.
A quick 150 mile loop so I've not been on it for that many hours yet but it seems 100% better than the stock seat - (in my opinion).
It feels oddly flat and almost bench like when you first get on but just works.
On the stock seat I was getting a slightly numb arse and some hip ache after 50/60 miles - causing a lot of fidgeting and need to stretch my legs.
This has now completely disappeared.
In short, it doesn't feel like it will be comfortable - but it is. (y)
