Picked up our first 1200 GSA on Friday. Love the bike but the stock seat is a killer.

Just how good are the Sargent seats for the £460 involved?

Anyone local to Colchester who has one on their bike that maybe I could sit on?

Andy

Some people love the Sargent seat, and would not live without it (cannot), I'm not impressed, did not fit my bum, and I sold it again.

I now have a TT Comfortable which I'm quite happy about, still have some pain, but I can walk at the end of the day;).

My recommendation is to find someone who can lend you one for a day to try it out...

£460 only if you want the back seat as well ..

The passenger seat isn't that great in my opinion .. although you might be one of those that needs their bike to look just right.

I have been wondering about a more "comfy" seat but which one to go for?
On the standard seat i can cope with about 160-170 miles, then i really need to be off and stretch my legs, usually fill up at this point too but i can manage 225 ish.But of course after a short break when I have done say another 65 mile i want another get off!Do any of the manufacturers/importers offer a try b4 u buy?

It's a great seat, worth every penny!

Miles of effortless comfort.

They take about 100 miles or so to break in. After that they are as comfortable as a comfortable thing.

Hit the nail on the head there. Going on a tour next year where I have 3 days one after the other of 350-40 mile stretches, the standard seat is just not going to let me do that.

You are welcome to have a go with my Sargent seat. I live in Coggeshall (just down the road). PM me and we can sort something out.

+3 :thumb2

Before I got my Sargent seat, I was getting very uncomfortable after about 30-40 minutes.

The Sargent seat is worth every penny. On a recent trip to Scotland, I was riding in comfort non-stop on the way up and down to Scotland between fuel stops (three hours).

They don't suit everyone but those who get on with them, absolutely love 'em. Me included.

Do Sargent seats have a high and low setting and with the extra padding are they in general higher than the standard seat?

They have high and low settings, and the standard version is much the same height as the standard BMW seat, although both low and high versions are available.

They are a bit narrower at the front I think, making the getting down of feet a little easier when stopping. The difference is not so much extra padding, as a better shape and better materials.

That would be great as I'm only just up the road from you. Cant find how to PM you or

I am happy with the seat and have done 700 miles in a day and felt ok, much better than the original on a 06 GSA. The mrs did the same journey on the back and preferred the original, she says she has no room to move around on the sargent.

On another note the seat on the 08 GS was 'changed' was the GSA ?

my mrs hated the sargent rear seat, gave her back ache, so i sold it on. the front's great for me though :thumb2

As pointed out earlier, plenty of people swear by them. I don't know of anyone who swears at them, but when i tried one it didn't do the job for me. better than the stock seat but it only extended the time I could ride without bum ache from 30 minutes to 1 hour. At least they are easily sold on as there is a ready market of buyers out there for them.

I'm thinking of having my standard GSA seat cut down by about 1.5" and some higher density foam put it, what do you reckon?
