Having heard nothing but praise for these I'm now about to make the leap and buy a set. However, one thing, the standard Sargent seat, how does it compare height wise with the standard seat? Is it higher / lower or the same. I'm about at my limit for toes down with the standard seat and any higher would make it uncomfortable at a standstill. So I was considering the low seat option. The Nippy Norman site says the seat standard is 1/2" lower than the BMW one, but is it wider / different shape making the arse to ground distance different?

Anyone with the low option, is it as comfortable as the normal version?

Storage under rear seat, any use?

cheers,

Andy T

I just took receipt of a Sargent seat yesterday from NN's. What a difference in comfort. Lovely! :thumb2

I'm all of 6 foot and I've been using a standard seat on it's higher setting and first impressions are that it seems to be the same height as the original, but shaped very differently with a wider area for the derriere, which I suppose moves your legs out slightly further.

As for the underseat storage, it'll be handy for a disk lock and a couple of other small items, although what these small items will be, I have no idea...

I think the order took just over two weeks to arrive. I went for the less bling option of black welts on the seat, which suits nicely.

I've just checked the underseat storage too. It's wedge shaped and approx 16cm square, running to 6cm deep, so enough to get a couple of things in there.

Best of luck with the seat - although I've only done around 100 miles on it since getting it yesterday, I have to say it's been a revelation! :) :) :)

Got mine in three days, despite a note from NN that they would be three weeks.

The standard Sargent seat is the same height (min / max) as the bog standard 1200GS seat and adjusted in exactly the same way.

Absolutely delighted with mine - stacks more comfortable than the OE seats. The underseat storage is really handy for the slightly bulkier items like phone and disc lock that don't feel comfortable when stuffed in the pockets of my leathers, so I no longer need to fit my soft BMW bag on the rear rack if out for a short day ride. I can ride for three hours without feeling uncomfortable any more. On the OE seats I was ready for a walk around after an hour. A really worthwhile buy. Worth every penny.

Heightwise the seats are the same but because the sitting position is very slightly different, I think it feels about half a centimetre higher. It does to me anyway.

I agree. I'e had sargent seat on my 1150gs and the 12GSA and they are brilliant. The one on the GSA is a different shape so although I have it on the high setting (standard seat on low only) I cna still reach the ground OK. The dished shape give more support on the move but you do have a harder edge when feet down.

Paddling the bike around can be trickier but you do get used to it and it worth any hassle to have all day comfort.
