It's quite close to this: http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/nav.12454

I take it this is still on for Saturday? Tonights weather forecast is suggesting rain for Friday and Saturday, should make it interesting for us poor "beginners".

It is still on and it will be fine.:)
The tracks in Kings Forest are very well drained and being mostly sandy soil actually offer more grip in the damp than when totally dry.

Hell, loads of old faces turning up on here, hiya Tim, last bumped into you on the Assietta a couple of years back. Thought you had emigrated to Maroc. Adam is right though, I wouldn't want to walk that distance.

Anyways, anybody have any objections to me turning up on a Pogo ? The 1100 is up for sale at the mo, and I don't want to have to clean it again and the old Air Head is in storeage just waiting for the spanners.

I will quite happily bow out now if you think its a bit ott and just cheating a bit for your plans.

Just checking - will a complete numpty on a DR650 shod with Metzler Saharas be OK? The Saharas are more of a chunky road tyre and don't fare that well in mud :mmmm I'm sorting some knobblies for it, but they won't be available in time.

Also, I've mentioned this to a local TRF chap I know and he'd like to come along as well - is that OK? He'll be on some big orange lump of a thing too.

Thanks Adam a really good day out well worth the ride up .:bow

Will see you at the end of the month . :bounce1

hope everyone got home ok nice to see some new faces keep up the good work guys .:thumb

Great day Guys, nice to see some old faces and loads of new ones.

Got a few nice photos, I'l stick some in the ride out section later.

Graham.

Cheers to everyone for organising this - I had a whale of a time and it was great to meet a bunch of new faces and get a few tips on setting up the bike to boot.

I'm looking forward to the photos as well.

Does anyone have a GPS log of the day? I'd like to mark up the routes for later fun :)

Excellent day out, thanks for organising a great trip. First time off road for me on the GS and I enjoyed every minute, particularly the excellent pond diving for one of the motorcross guys. I must invest in some more suitable tyres for off road. If anyone has a set of wheels and tyres going for a R1200GS i'd be interested.

My pleasure.:thumb2
Glad everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
Hope you can all make it again sometime soon.

Hi Adam, thanks for Saturday, very eventful for me! the GS did not sustain any visible damage from the almost inpact with the tree!!! Great pics Noddy.
Good to meet you all and thanks for the tips everyone, I think I know a bit more now than I did and must be an expert now coming off twice!
Will be practicing round cones me thinks.
See you all again.
Mick

My pleasure mate.

Find some smooth but uneven ground (IYSWIM?) and practice keeping yourself perpendicular whilst the bike does what it needs to do under you. It's a great way to find and train your balance.
