I purchased a 23 plate 1250 gs adv tophy and want to buy sat nav.I see a few used motorad nav's on sale but want to know should i have any concerns re older versions and compatibility? also can older versions still update software and maps?Anything i should be aware of before making a used purchase?
thanks in advance to any replies and hope to see you on the road 🤟😊

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I too have a 2023 Trophy.

You can take a risk and buy a used Nav 6.
Some have failed. The screens have been known to fail.
There are a few updates. V9 is considered the one to have.
All Nav 6’s can have the maps updated.

I have two previous versions. Both work perfectly. Happy to sell one quite cheaply.
You would need to become a subscriber in order to message folk.

Possibly need to do the same to purchase from the sales section.

Alternatively. There are several non BMW satnavs that work in the cradle and can be controlled with the wheel.
I have owned several. They do the job. However, they mirror your phone. Possibly make things more complicated than they need to be.

Zumo 660 and all BMW after Nav 4 fit. 660 no longer gets updates. 5 is best, Nav 6 has had problems with the screen
Some car play type devices also fit the cradle

Thanks for the update,as a matter of curiosity how old a version do you have and can they be updated?what would you like £ for one?

I have two. Both in vgc and boxed.
One is a V8 Make life a Ride.
Other is V8 Previous version.

Both with recently updated 2027.10 maps.
Not exactly sure of age.

If you subscribe you can have the newer ‘make life a ride’ version for £175 posted.
I recently purchased this on eBay for £210. The older version cost me £110 on here a few months back.

So if you subscribe it gets you a year here and a cased Nav 6 for under £200.

You may already know this, but it's worth looking at "dumb" screens which implement Apple Carplay or the Android equivalent. You then get a lot of choice as to what apps you use for navigation (I mainly use use Waze and OsmAnd) and on-screen control of phone, SMS, audio (music, books, podcasts - whatever you are playing). Chigee does one that uses the BMW rotary controller, but there are several others that are compatible with the BMW mount. I wouldn't go back to a dedicated satnav.
