My old 660 has had its day but what other sat navs will fit in the dash?
Vs and V1s only?

Thanking you….

If you are going to chose one and want the whirly wheel to work, chose the V.

The VI in its current form will work but its reliability as a device, is too flakey.

Thanks Squibb. Trying to check this plastic surround out.

It’s possible 2015 onwards bikes had a bigger opening , maybe so a Nav 5 would fit. BMW Aberdeen don’t seem to know about a bigger plastic opening for anything.

I have two or three part numbers under 2011 > 2016 bikes.

46 63 8 546 302 for a Nav 5

46 63 8 382 723 for a Nav 6

Nothing about a 660. The bit of plastic ,if that’s all I need, on US sites is $60 to $100 if I have read it right.
Anyone have a 1600GT , 2015 with a Nav 5 fitted? Maybe upgraded from a 660?

I’ll ask on the wildly exciting 1600gt forum……

By all means check it out on the K1600 forum.

My understanding is that you will need the 46 63 8 546 302 Instrument Cover (from 08/13) With Release Button For Navigator 5 to see the whole Nav V screen on a 2012 or 2013 GT.

Now, unfortunately we don't know what plastic cover you have on the bike already.

The real issue though is surely the wisdom of spending to change to out-of-date tech - the NavV replaced the NavIV some 10 years ago now. The NavVI is crap. Hence my suggestion that you think about the XT instead.

The Nav V and / or some earlier BMW GPS devices have fitted into the cubbyhole thing since day one, which was 2011. Providing that is the bike has the so called ‘Sat Nav Preparation’. Very few bikes were ever specified without it.

I ran my Nav V and, from memory my IV, in my 1600’s with no difficulty at all, right back to 2011.

I think I will try out MyRoute-app for the moment. Download routes to my phone and see how I get on with it.

The GPS device in the cubbyhole, when linked to the whirlywheel, is very good.

I have the option of running a phone for navigstion on my 1600 and Himalayan. I cannot pretend that I like using it too much.

Yup...my 2013 GT came with the Nav V fully integrated....

Thanks for the info.
I’ll maybe pick up a second hand one somewhere. Not keen on buying old used things like that though…
