A bit of an expensive ride out today.....................

Clipped the Zumo 660 into its BMW holder as per usual............... Went round to mates, then to fill the bike up................. Left garage, and opened the bike up, and off shot the Zumo when I got to around the 65mph mark.

Anyone else had any issues with the holder ?................ Or have I just not clipped it in right ?

Unit is definately not water tight any more, and neither does it pick up satellites..................... That'll teach me !

Don't quite understand that. My GS has the BMW mount which you put in the sat nav, slide a lever over, and then lock with the ignition key??

Not sure but I think the holder is for the Nav V which I believe has a slight curve on the back whilst the 660 is totally flat. I've seen this mentioned on another post. 660 can be used but you need to make sure it's secure. It could be that it's a Nav V in a 660 mount that I'm referring to. Apologies if I've got it the wrong way round, do a search "Posh tosser" I think he had this problem.

Garmin do a fixed price repair for about £125. Ring them up. Real people in england answer the phone which is a bonus!

You send yours in. They send you a good as new refurbished unit.

Used this service myself and impressed.

So all is not lost and suspect cheaper than you envisaged.

Had this problem with my 660, I didn't click it in correctly & it fell off whilst I was inputting postcode etc, I caught it before it hit floor so now I make sure it's clipped into holder securely before moving off.. (just a good tug & a twist confirms it seated ok)

Thanks for input chaps............ Will give Garmin a ring about a replacement unit for that money.................. Have ordered a new one anyway from Sportbikeshop............. Just under £300 for a NOH unit, as the Garmin 590 han't been released yet.

I will definitely clip mine in, slide the retainer over and lock it from now on............... I used to just clip it in and go.............. But no longer !

Thought about a nav 5 from BMW ?
Much clearer than the 660, although I liked my 660..
Loadsa posts on here, have a read..

Over £600, and doesn't come with a car mount as standard....................... I'm not tight, but I feel BMW are pulling my trousers down and shafting me royally. The Garmin 590 is out soon. A hundred quid cheaper, and does come with a car mount.

I've ordered a new unit, and Garmin are sending me another unit for £120.00......................... Two for less than one BMW unit !

Yeh, but if you have the TE wheel........................they don't work with it:blast

This has happened to me twice now (nav iv). Both times ive clicked the nav in (the tab to the right has clicked).

First time i was sliding the lock tab on the left across whilst parked and it fell off, the second was yesterday, had clicked the nav in but forgotten to slide the lock across and set off, got about 30 miles, gave it the beans at some lights and off she popped like a hockey puck down the highstreet.:D

Still works but scratched on the back.

Its the work of the devil that shitty bracket...might spray some silicone spray or something its really awkward to use at the best of times.

Good tip
