My google powers have failed me and I can't see much available to mount a zumo 550 above the clocks. SW Motec seem to do something that looks like a meccano set but that's all I could find. I'm not sure the £165 is good value from the dealer when I'll still have to do a bit of work and won't use the wheel thing.

I had a really nice machined aluminium bracket on my defunct '07 GS. But times and designs have radically changed.

So, can anyone offer up anything?

I got a mount from Italy off eBay last year just did a search but can't find it now, sorry. There are some earlier threads on this subject

I have the TE version which has the bar above the clocks, I took off the Nav V mount and used the 2013 RT plastic bits to mount the 550 cradle to the bar. The dealer ordered me the bits that were intended for the old RT, they (BENHAM's Wolverhampton) were very helpful, I gave them the cradle and they found the right bits. I think you can also buy the bar that goes over the clocks if yours doesn't already have it although that may cost a bit more than the plastic bits.

Cool!

Right - so get the bar. That just leaves getting some sort of bracket to mount the zumo base thing to the bar. If only I could machine a 1/4" bit of steel/ali plate and a couple of 'U' brackets.

Mmm

I'll try and get a photo later, I took the RAM ball off the cradle and then the cradle bolts directly to the plastic fitting but I could only use two of the bolts as if you use all four the cradle masks some of the clocks. It's still very secure so no problem. The plastic thing to fasten to the bar is the bit used to mount sat nabs onto the hex head BMW R1200RT which has a similar bar over the dash.
