Hi

Has anyone used the latest version of the pratnav available on the LC.
I very rarely use them, but as I am travelling more thought it might be useful.
I have a couple of questions, if you have a moment
Can you download the safety camera info?
Can you get a car kit for it (not from BMW)
Do they work ok on Bluetooth over an intercom

Thanks for the help

Barry

I have mine locked in the cradle pretty much permanently.

Works fine with my Cardo G4, but I tend to pair that directly with my iPhone 'cos I like the ease of voice dial with one button press on the helmet.

The multi-controller seems pretty useless to me save for switching between the nav views.

Volume control on the wheel does not work with the G4. In fact, if you try to use it it just cuts out the sound totally for a few secs.

I have a BMW system 6 with Bluetooth in the garage somewhere but it's so uncomfortable I can only wear it for an hour at a time before I get a brain embolism.

I'll try it at the weekend (briefly) to see if the volume control on the multi-controller works with that.

Hi Barry

Check this out.

You may find there is more info in the sat nav section as well

I've got a Zumo 660 and fitted that to my TE - would have liked the wheel function but can't justify the extra for a nav 4.

The over riding thing for me is Bluetooth

What Nav do you have?

Jon

Currently I just have an old tom-tom which I never use on the bike.
This would be my first go at satnav and a bike so I need all the help I can get.

When the GPS is paired with a Bluetooth audio system (I have the Sena-SMH10 and the Zumo 660) the system takes sound control over from the GPS itself. So, you have to control sound with the audio system. I suppose it'll be the same with the System 6.

Buy a Garmin 660, basicaly the same unit as the BMW Nav 4 but much cheaper, will fit and work with the prefitted sat nav mount on your new LC, comes with a car mount for use in the car and all the software you need to plan routes on your pc.
A couple of tips, buy the lifetime maps update, Im told its cheaper to buy from Handtec etc, cost about £50 but well worth it.
The safety camera thing will drive you feckin nuts, starts pinging in your ear a good while before you see the camera, a right royal pain in the ass which you can easily turn off.
Good Luck:beerjug:

As far as I can see the Garmin is around the same price as I have been offered as a deal from BMW so I may as well go for that..... I think!!!

I thought the BMW unit did not come with the car kit?

In addition the Garmin 660 will have an additional Bike Kit, so if you have a second Bike you are sorted or it's worth around £60 on Ebay. £389 from Handtec including Lifetime Maps.

And if you find you can live without it, it will be an easy sell on Ebay as it
will be ready for any bike.
