I've tried reading the fecking manual but it's not helping much. What operations can you do with a nav iv from the GS thumbwheel?
When I get more time I will play with it whilst not riding but from what I've seen so far it doesn't seem that useful?
Tips please :)

In fairness to him there was a bit of help in the comment as I am not sure as to how well the Nav 4 integrates with the thumb wheel and the bike

Well the thumbwheel was designed for the nav iv so no, his comment was completely useless!

I realise the v is better than the iv but I don't think it gives you much more information than you can get from the computer pro. I just wanted it for navigation!
Was hoping someone with experience would give me an idiots guide to the thumb wheel!

Thumb wheel will allow you to scroll through the different menus on Nav IV but not much else.
The functionality with Nav V is much more extensive, so the advice is sound if you want to use the wheel.

Very simple or at least with the Nav 5 push it and it changes the screen, keep pushing it to keep changing. when you reach your desired screen scrolling the wheel moves up and down the menus in the screen.pushing and holding selects the item you want. Scrolling in map view zooms in and out.

With media player pushing and holding changes track

thumbwheel is really designed as a control. Its the nav 5 that has all the gismos and gimmicks of information that the thumbwheel can access. the nav 4 is really just a sat nav, so thats all the info your going to get unfortunately

The wheel allows you to zoom in and out on a Nav V. It doesn't on the Nav IV.

From Redrick's post .... the part that is easily missed is the "Push and hold" , this function is the key to it (and varies with each screen)

I wouldn't want to be without my integrated gps and control wheel!

EG; Map zoom out , tilt it one way , map zoom in , tilt it the opposite way.
Next music track , "push and hold " ( maybe just over a second)

The one thing it doesn't do, which I'd expect it to, is turn up/down the volume when in the music player screen.
