sat nav updates

just trying to get maps updated on the new nav iv with life time maps, downloaded garmin express it recognized the sat nav and updated it in about 2 minutes am i doing it right? some people say it takes all night!

Mm... It does take several hours, unless your map is up-to-date (I think), so... Check the version of maps you have under Tools/Settings/Maps/Info. Then you can compare with what version you are trying to download.

you may find that you have done a firmware/software update rather than a map update.

Don't the BMW units need their own specific update? Not sure if this is done via the usual channels (i.e. on-line update from Garmin via Garmin Express/Garmin Updater) or by another method

Not sure if this helps but.. I updated my Zumo yesterday - Map version is now 2013.30 (firmware version is 4.80 which may not be the same if you have a nav4).
