Sat nav

Yes and no. Initially the route will be exactly as planned in Basecamp, including any avoidances etc. like "Residential roads". However, if for any reason you recalculate on the Nav V, it will then use its own logic which could then make the route slightly different to the original in Basecamp.

Good point. But if the logic is matched between the Nav and Basecamp, then re routing should be the same? I.e. Using the same profile on both with the same avoidances and routing options.

The routing logic seems slightly different. After an unwelcome detour in a trip last week, I studied the route in Basecamp and the route did go up the back road in Basecamp. If I switched on "Avoid residential roads" in Basecamp, it then avoided the detour and stuck on the A road as the 660s had done. To test this further, I send this revised route to the Nav V and it did indeed stick with Basecamp's route and stay on the A road. However, I then recalculated the route by switching to "Off road" and back to "Fastest route" and then the Nav V decided to take the back road again. So it seems that a lot of a Basecamp's avoidances aren't in the Nav V. When a route with these avoidances is first uploaded, it works fine, but a recalculation isn't aware of Basecamp's avoidances and so the route is changed.
