Got my new RT (chuffed to bits with it!!) with the summer package which included a Zumo 660 I paid to have the dealer fit a Autocom SPA system for passenger to pillion and bike to bike radio linked to the Sat-Nav via an Autocom BTM-02a blue tooth connection. only done half a dozen or so trips around 700ish miles and the blue-tooth has lost connection almost 50% of the time i have been out. I did ask the dealer could be hard wire removing the need for the blue-tooth (which had on my old pan after suffering issues with Dongle not pairing with Sat-Nav) but was told that this is not an option.
has anyone else experienced this problem and know how to over come it?

Bar this issue really enjoying the bike :)

Your first mistake was to use blue-teeth :augie .
:thumby: You can get a cable to hard wire the sat-nav to the Autocom a much better solution.
Personally, I have tried various wireless units and have gone back to my old Starcom Digital unit. No problems with pairings and charging- result.

After I stopped pairing my headset and I phone with the 660, my BT problems have been resolved.

YMFB are you suggesting that the problem is when the phone is trying to pair with the Sat Nav at the same time it buggers up the BT connection? as my IPhone pairs every time
i will try it with the Bluetooth on the phone turned off

I use iphone for music on mine, if I switch 660 on first then the iphone will not pair with my headset.

So long as I remember to switch on iphone first and then the 660 it all works very well, I use sena smh5 headsets.

You are having problems pairing the Zumo and the Autocom via BT, yes?

Check that the Zumo firmware is up to data as there can be modifications to the Bluetooth stacks, then try re-pairing. ,
If this does not work, then check the approximate date of manufacture of the BTM02a module if you can. Call Autocom and try find out the version of firmware that the module was flashed with and tell them the problems you are having.
If this does not work, then call Sam at Chainspeed :)
The Zumo on my RT is hard-wired to the Autocom. The labour time of doing it this way is greater because it takes me a couple of hours to take part of the fairing off, do some nice cable runs inside sheathing and zip-tie it all up. Naturally I have never lost a connection.

Hope this helps,

John

I have been trying to use the iPhone 4, 660, SMH5 combination for some months. The BT would drop out many many times for no apparent reason, but I don't recall it happening mid call. A few weeks ago I was really frustrated with the whole fiasco and decided to experiment, ( I may have read it somewhere as well) any by turning off the BT on the sat Nav and connecting the iPhone to the headset it has become far more stable. As a blood biker when I'm on shift I don't usually make calls, but the controller can call with changes or updates so it's important to receive the call and keep going.

A bit confused on this - the "free BMW offer" included a Navigator IV not a Zumo 660?

If it was a Zumo then no problem just use one of your old hardwire leads from your old autocom or order a new one if you let the go with the old bike. BT is not the ideal solution because it does seem to be unreliable but hardwired is there all the time every time......

If it was the Nav IV then there is an interface wire to hardwire into some BMW machines but I suspect that it is the new architecture that it will support. Not yet heard of an interface that works with the Autocom (except blue tooth).

HOWEVER - there is another thread about taping a connection on the back of the Nav IV that then allows transmission of stereo sound and some have then drilled the NAV IV holder to allow access to the audio jack plug - seems a very destructive way of doing a simple job in my opinion but BMW really didnt think about their customer base with exiting bikes with old architecture.

I have just ordered a bike with the "free kit" and the Nav IV will be going straight on ebay because its a backward step to my current Zumo 660.

Pretty much my experience exactly. Once your phone connects to headset then switch on sat nav and it all works ok. I beleive I set my sena to media pairing only as I don`t want to take calls on the move.

gents thanks for all the replies but i think i have confused the issue and the replies confuse me even more (believe me it doesn't take a lot to confuse me) :blast
It is the BMW Navigator IV that i have i thought it was the same as the Zumo 660 :nenau
However how can i connect the I-Phone to the head set before turning on the Navigator as the phone is paired to the navigator and the navigator paired to the BTM-02A
the phone pairs every time no problem

I have the nav IV but I don`t pair my phone to it.
My set up is to have my iphone paired directly to smh5 headset for music (media pairing only but can be set to take calls if required). This gives stereo music to headset.
I then have my Nav IV paired to the headset, I don`t have my phone paired directly to the Nav IV at all, this allows mp3 s from phone to helmet but will interrupt with directions etc from the Nav IV whilst routing and then return to music once speech is done.Pressing the jog dial on the headset interrupts music and allows coms between rider and pillion, tap again and return to music.
The smh5 allows multiple device pairings to enable this.

Don`t know if this can be done with BTM-02A but there's some discussion here which may help. http://www.bikersoracle.com/vfr/forum/showthread.php?p=1436026
