A positive experience: I picked my new GS up on the 3rd Sept and two days later set off on a trip to Germany, my bike arrived as ordered, panniers, top box and engine guards and no 'shims' to make the panniers fit, I had the bike serviced at a German dealer who provided excellent service and after 7 days of brilliant riding and roads arrived home with 2000 miles on the clock and no issues what so ever. Having owned all the GS variants over the years and a couple of R's I have to say that the WC is the nicest, most technically advanced and competent bike I have ever owned, this is one very satisfied owner.:D

Good to here, glad everything is fine and all parts ordered arrived on time. I got all my bits I think BMW have sorted the supply problems with luggage now. My bike is doing well taking us round the Black Forest in the rain this week a bit cold though with 2.5 deg yesterday at midday considering we are not that high up!

Hope my clutch rod arrives by the time we get home?

It was cold and wet when we was there too, B500 still good though, stayed at Sasbachwalden and had bike serviced at Fallert BMW in Achen. Enjoy your trip and hope your bits have come on your return.

The B500 out of Baden Baden was very misty on Monday we even struggled to do the 70 kmh speed limit!

We are staying here http://www.sonnenhof-sonnhalde.de/ highly recommended, great food and nice in door swimming pool for when we can't be bothered to go out on the bike! We came the same time last year and had lovely weather. Oh well we had good weather in Austria in June can't get it right every time.......

I have been very satisfied since I got mine in March, without doubt the best 1200 by along way, over 8,500 miles now and very happy. :D

Entirely as it should be BeemerBoy :thumb2

Steering damper, unnecessary extra weight just to satisfy the marketing dept I suspect.

If they said they were fitting them to all the original bikes I wouldn't say no but I don't think it needs it! I can't say 100% it doesn't need it but I have ridden the bike quite hard in a variety of conditions and had no reason to question anything it has done. Clutch rods, switch gear and rear pads might need modification but a steering damper? I don't see the need!

In years to come, people will speak of 2013 owners in hushed reverential terms.

Of how we put our very lives on the line and tame the bucking weaving non dampened version of the WC GS.

We truly have experienced life on the edge and laughed in the face of death.

I wonder if I could get a t shirt.........

Well I would like to know your on and off road pedigree to make this statement:augie

PM (me) direct.

Beforehand look at Trials & Motorcross News (u.13/13 to 16/juniors/18+) and EuroMotard and we'll start the conversation.

Do let me know, we may have competed together before I moved to Road?

In which case (I'm over 40yoa now) look at IoM.com.

Doubt it but always willing to renew old friendships......

Just saying.

And besides, as I say, the WC is an awesome machine.

Sitting alongside a VRSCA Harley D (Porsche engine) (sorry), a S1000RR and a tricked-out Husqvarna Nuda 900R in the garage, I've got a handle on it.

Lovin' the GS, whatever flavour.

I think the steering damper is probably an essential item if you are thinking to ride standing on the pegs, hands off bars, cruise-control set, over rough ground
