Has anybody found a solution to getting the satnav bracket out of the line of sight of the rev counter? I may try it fitted horizontally or in my pocket!

It is just a nice to do as I'm sure the Alpha Charlie Ben Kanobi's out there deride the need to see the rev counter.

I have purchased the bloody rev counter so I want to see it.

They all do that:blagblah:blast I tried angling mine upwards, but got glare from the sun. I've learnt to live with it, but it's a crap design if you're over 5ft 2.:rob

When you're old and walk with a stoop (like my Mother-in-law does) you'll be fine. Just wait it out.

Solutions....

a)Tape up the rev counter

b)Do away with the GPS and use a proper navigation system, like a map stuck on the tank

c)Mount the GPS somewhere else

d) LIVE with it

Is it really, really that difficult:rolleyes:

Mine I've angled up more as I'm not a jockey and can see it fine, along with the rev counter now.

Stating a physical map is a solution beggars belief if you want to gain credibility that your posts are adding any value to this section.

I suspect a shroud over the satnav would help with sunlight if it is an issue and maybe such an addon exists or could become available. Another alternative would be to move the cradle to something like the TT mount and place it below the display rather than above.

Given I, as I'm sure most do, use the rev counter of course, it was the first change I made to the bike.

Don't normally agree with you, but on this occasion I do :D I have given up with sat-nav and gone back to 'knowing' where I am by using a map and reading road signs :D

Err

Not quite sure which sat nav mount you refer to but I've just got 2010 GSA which had one on for a zumo 550. That too was obscuring the rev counter. If its the same mount as I have if you try and move the mount around too much the locking tab at the back takes chunks out of the screen.

So, like I say if its the same as mine, I unscrewed the four philips screws that hold the mount onto the bracket, turned it round 180 degrees, put the bracket back on the mounting bar "upside down", so the locking tab now sits at the bottom, shuffled the whole thing across until it was over the speedo more and Bob's your Uncle, Fannies your Aunt. Job jobbed.

But you are probably talking about a completely different bracket.

Total tripe, you may as well suggest a horse and cart to a pannier question.

A post which brings even less value to the thread than the one you're complaining about........ you're learning :D

Well, at the risk of being shot at, I have no problem with the Nav IV obscuring the rev counter as delivered to me by BMW. BTW I am 6' 2" which may or may not be a factor

Do you need a satnav for visiting your local tesco . :D

You STUPID BOY! Of course we do - as true adventurers we don't just visit the local Tesco. Now we have a go anywhere bike we seek out other supermarkets both far and wide :D

Being taller in the body makes it worse, I'm tall in the torso and as a result the satnav does obscure the rev counter - why I moved it.

I'd prefer a sitting it back further but that would obstruct the screen.

Look, I paid BMW A HUGE amount for the rev counter and I want to see it, simples.

So given the wisdom on this thread I have come to the following conclusions:-

1. Take the satnav off the mount and thus reveal the rev counter.

2. Move the sat nav mount to another location with the aid of ram mounts.

3. Swop the bike for a TEx........no, to easy a solution.

The choice that is most convienient is 2. Simples.

Thank you all for your biking wisdom.......

You don't have to move it, just tweak the angle and sorted - in my case anyway ymmv.

Just use the cruise control, shuffle backwards til you're on the pillion seat and steer with your feet. Perfect view of the rev counter and the satnav.
