Satnav mounting

Looking for a bit of advise on mounting my satnav, on my old sports bike I used a ridermount case with my tomtom v4 in it mounted via the fork stem hole. On the GS I have clamped it on the rail around the back of the clocks. Problem is I can't tilt it down enough to stop the glare from the sun before the case hits the clocks, as I found out when I took my daughter for a 290 mile blast round the peak district last weekend . Am I right in thinking that you can get a second bar that fits higher up above the clocks ? Did a search but can't seem to find owt ?

SAT NAV MOUNT

which sat nav have you got ive got a spare touratech bar that fits above the clocks but i didnt find it very good to be honest i now have a gsa screen and have mounted my tom tom on the top bar its up behind the screen out of the weather and sun

i had the same problem with a 660,
solved by fitting a sun shade, i got a 'glare stomper'
cost a tenner, google is your friend.

Sat Nav mount

Made this mount from 2mm alluminium sheet with hole for cable and heavy duty velcro (sticky backed). Soft bit of velcro stuck to back of sat nav (Garmin Nuvi car type) works a treat !! Its well protected from the weather behind the screen but easy to slip a clear pouch over it if necessary. The sat nav still fits into the car windscreen sucker mount so no probs there. Oh yeah - also fitted a fused and switched (cigarette lighter type ) socket for plugging in to, that tucks away under the dash unit.

BMW do a bar that does mount the Sat Nav above the clocks, about £30 ish, also bought the mounting kit, again about £30 ish, which with a small amount of bodging fitted my Tom Tom. If you need some pics or further get back to me.

I just use my Tomtom v4, and stick it in a Ridermount case. Works great and I'm not bothered about the sound, the problem is that I need to be able to tilt it slightly downwards to keep the sun from reflecting back at me. I had a look at the bars on Nippy's, Toratech ect and they are all overkill, I just want a simple tube that sits a couple of inches above the clocks. I'm sure I've seen one that mounts via the screen adjusting bolts ?

Don't the sun reflect back at you ? your satnav looks like it's sitting at a similar angle to mine.

Hi Fenner, not had much problem with sun, as I just angled it down a bit - but I am just about to make a simple shield for the top and sides from ali sheet which velcros to the back of the current holder - that will give sun and weather protection for an upcoming trip.
