Satnavs

550 is effectively becoming obsolecent as you can't fit the whole of the EU within its own storage. The 660 can, and if you can get over the "white box" aspect, will, IMO be a better buy.

you did noitice the price is ex vat?

Yes I did, but even with the VAT the cost new is only £20 more the current value of those used buys on fleabay with no warranty etc.

Seems a good deal, more interested in whether the company is reputable:nenau

The 660 is only £10 more than the 550 on the site?

Just seems like excellent prices and when it looks too good to be true, it usually is so i'm looking for the catch!:rob

I've had one from them in the past, and they're mentioned on here quite often... can't recall any problems with them :thumb

The 660 can't either. I could not get the latest update on and phoned Garmin to check. They confirmed that the latest Europe NT will not fit on a 660.

I put Western Europe on the satnav and the Eastern Europe countries on an SD card. Its transparent in use but just more aggro when updating maps.

I find that surprising as I've just used my Lifetime Update for my 660 and now I'm on 2011.4 which is for the whole of Europe.

When I installed a map update on my 660 in autumn 2010 the install program showed not enough room and would only work with western Europe. I deleted all spare languages and other not needed files, all routes and checked I only had about a dozen favourite destinations and it still would not fit. When I finally got everything installed the total file size seemed less than the available space on the unit so I phoned Garmin who confirmed that it would no longer fit on a 660 as although, in theory, it would fit in the memory that did not leave enough free memory for the unit to operate properly.

The same happened on the most recent upgrade, I needed to install Eastern countries on an SD card.
