Saturday 10th April

as though there will be a few of us as long as the winter doesn't pop back for another "goodbye"

10:00 at the museum on the Saturday:thumb2

have fun.....:beerjug: ...........I'm on my way to sunny Stratford upon Avon, the UK's foremost sea port so my bike can be shipped by boat to the States.....:duno

You missed a great day Paul. I hope that you didn't fall into the harbour loading your bike onto the ship at Stratford UA

Boxerboy demonstrated brilliant timing by rolling in almost on the dot of 10:00hrs. I'd managed to get coffee plus roll and links before the Cafe was officially open and was half way through it.

I thought that we'd only take a couple of hours to wander around but in fact it was three by the time we'd seen everything.

The Garvald Inn, which Pete rode right past:blast:D proved to be a good recommendation. Not a big menu but good food.

We then set off on an unclassified road over the top of the Lammermuir Hills en route to Duns. It was the only time I've ever done off roading on the road. There was enough gravel, sand, mud and water on the road to make a motocross track. The winter has inflicted heavy damage to the roads in that area. We made several large diversions, just to get around the pot holes. Th esnow ploughs had managed to plough th everges as well, much of which was on the road.

We rode a loop through Greenlaw, Gordon, Lauder, Stow, Galashiels, Peebles, Carnwath before I peeled off at Cairstairs to head home.

Brilliant sunshine and a really good day. Thanks for the company Pete:thumb2

Indeed a splendid day out. Must be the best day of the year so far, weather wise. Blue sky, sunshine, warm even. Getting the layers right was tricky; but one of life's simpler problems :)

Thanks to Mr. P for the suggestion and the company today. I even picked up a few reminders of how I should be riding all the time not just some of the time. All in all an excellent way to burn around 200 miles worth of unleaded. :thumb2

My second bottle of beer is going down a treat now :beerjug:
