A new thread following on from
http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49054

10am start at Chieveley Services (M4 J13)

10 fords
19 byways (maybe plus Devil's Highway)
80 odd miles
around 3 hours

Can be done on Tourances, but with the recent rain, TCK80s are probably a better bet as some of the Byways get a bit muddy :)

So far I'm only aware of 650 owners being interested so I'm likely to be on my TTR so I can have a go through Bramshill ford (usually too deep for my 1200) and try the Devil's Highway (ruts too deep for my 1200)

I've done them all on my 1200 before so you should be fine.

I've not managed to get the whole length of the Devil's highway on the 1200 (I think the ruts are too deep), but we'll give that a miss if you turn up.

There is always next time :)

Is your mate on the 650 still planning to be there ?

I sent him a PM a few days ago, but i've not heard anything back, so i guess if he's not there by 10, he won't be coming.

Billy No Mates

Waited until 10.10 then went on my own :tears

The second byway (an addition to the route from a fortnight ago) doesn't seem to get a lot of use.

The ditch ford at Bucklebury wasn't very deep today, but had a new obstacle

Oops

On the fifth byway, was getting a bit cocky and had my first (and only) off of the day at about 25mph. Took a while to get the flooded engine going again

The Devil's highway started off surprisingly dry - if you keep out (and stay out) of the deep ruts in the first 1/2 mile...

and go around a couple of sections like this - you could probably get a big GS through the whole byway.

The marker post at Bramshill ford was up to around 2.5 feet and the river was a bit wider than last time - I thought I'd have a go at it anyway but wimped out 1/3 way across when I couldn't see the bottom anymore - so got a bit wet turning around midstream :D

Ah well, maybe next time.
