Saturday 7th March - rideout from Boxhill

indecisive,
box hill is actually a massive hill in surey
theres a nice greasy spoon cafe at the bottom called rykers, been a biking meet forever just a big car park and a place that sells greasey burgers fizzy pop, think its just of london road in dorking and right next to boxhill school, check it out on google maps, pretty sure rykers is on there

Shocked

Tom, im shocked... r u telling me you have not been to Box Hill :) from Slough though mnnnn, Box Hill featureing the famous Ryka Cafe is on the A24, if you look on a map from junction 9 of the M25 go passed Michleam bends on a dual carriageway and the car park is just before the roundabout.

Im in Twickenham Tom so if you wanted to go, i could meet you on route somewhere and take you in on a nice route.

If the weather is dry and sunny then I will take you up on that offer :D

Even I know Box Hill, I only brought my bike to London last here! It's a motorcycle mecca in the SE, you can't miss it!

As suggested by JoeC, a good ride could be going down towards Bognor Regis and stop by at Amberley. Do you guys know any nice B road around there? Otherwise I will put down the itinerary myself but be aware that I'm a newbie! :)

Tossers so far:

Publudio
LBL
Charlie971
JoeC (maybe)
Theop + 1 (lunch?)
Jonboy
Strider
Indecisive (maybe)

Should be warmer on Saturday, light rain is forecasted now but it keeps changing so fingers crossed! :thumb

if we're looking for some good b roads, which im sure we are, then the a24 out of dorking is a good one, couple of miles of fast flowign dual carrigeway, then some awesome twisties at the other end, and if you still havnt had enough, theres a niice little route that leads onto the devils dyke and into brighton, where they do the best fish and chips! just an idea if you lot fancied it!

fish & chips near brighton sounds likea plan.... when decided can someone please post a waypoint or a gmap link?

I know that route Jonyboy and its nice. Some good twisties. Theres alot to choose from in that neck of the woods, and I could suggest a few routes as well.

me thinks that meeting at the bottom is a good idea, get a few brews in before setting off, and is a big enough car park so cant lose each other!

Can you clarify.

Are we meeting at Box Hill i.e. top of the hill which is Box Hill or
Ryka's Cafe ?

As mentioned above, let's meet at the bottom, i.e. at Ryka's Cafe. My GS has still a foreign plate so you can't miss it!

Twisties in the woods towards Brighton and fish and chips sounds like a good plan to me as well! :thumb

I will post an alternative itinerary tomorrow evening just in case, sorry I didn't have time to do that yet!

Hi guys...

Not sure if I can join you, or not. Anyway, here's a suggested route for consideration:
A24 south to Dorking
West on A25
South through Abinger Common
On through Ewhurst and Rudgwick to join up with the A272.
West for a short bit on A272
Turn south to Fittleworth and on to pick up A29 south
Up Bury Hill to Whiteways for a cuppa
From Whiteways head to Amberley and on to Storrington
Take A283 to Washington (nice Triumph dealer) and on past Steyning to Upper Beeding
Take tiny road to Fulking and Poynings, then south to A27
Straight across onto Dyke road and through to Brighton
Chips, tea, walk on the pier etc.

Hope to see you, but if not, have fun!

Brighton F&chips then! What time do you guestimate you ll be there? Planning to leave london midday...

My wife doesn't let me have all the fun, so looks like I'll have a pillion! See you guys at 10.

Thanks Charlie for changing the title, I just could not figure out how to do that!
