SAVING FROM SKY HD TO PC

AFAIK Sky saves its programs as encoded data so you are gonna have problems as it needs to be decoded before watching and you need a card to do that

ISTRC that digital TV is delivered in dvi format and will need converting to mpeg or some other such format - or will need a special software player on the PC.

I've successfully recently transferred some video from my Freeview Humax box to PC, but it was a bit of a pain in the @r5e to be honest. I can't remember why I tried.....and we all know any decent programmes will soon be repeated on Dave 3 times a week anyway...;)

Here's the support forum for my make of box (Humax), there's bound to be something for Sky.

what i was trying to say is that the HD in the sky box saves the signal that comes in as encrypted data.... it only decodes it as it's played back... so as far as i know you can't cheat by copying the HD in some way.... so you really have to copy anything in real time to your PC with some sort of capture program... unless someone else knows different.. i don't really follow all the in's and outs of SKY box hacking

Play it out of the SCART socket in real time and use a video capture card to 'record' it on your PC. You're looking at £50 upwards.

IME......

and neither is the USB AFAIA

you might be best spending a load more money and getting a HD dreambox and hacking it
