Well it has finally arrived from Italy after a two month wait :huh

It may well be the first one to see light of day outside the factory.

No guessing what I'm doing tomorrow night :D

Dyno results in 2 weeks...seat of pants tomorrow

Nice bit of kit, I can't wait for the dyno results, where will you be taking it?

Me and my Bro took his newly rebuilt Velocette Thruxton to Torquetune yesterday, it was really interesting, obviously I wanted to talk about what he could do with a GS-LC. He said that he tends to fit Power Commanders as opposed to resetting the bike's ECU. Not for any other reason other than he is very comfortable with P/C's.

He offered the option of a very reasonably priced rolling road pre-run, prior to me spending any money to evaluate whether a P/C would be worthwhile investment.

So, my question is has anyone had a P/C fitted and dyno'd v/s a ECU re-write and such as what I believe (although not sure) is the Hilltune method.

My LC has a slightly rough patch around 2500rpm where it feels a bit lean, in fact I don't think that I could actually hold a steady 2500rpm even with the bike its stand, anyone else get this? It's not bad but if it's fixable at not too much cost I would prefer to have it gone!

Really nice can. I have one in full carbon. Only took 2x weeks for delivery.just watchwhen fitting the can because the exhaust terminal/exit sits very high and the products of combustion will melt the indicator. Happenned to me.

Good to know...i'll look at that when mounting.

My local dealer has one here in Scottsdale, Arizona :D

I've already put the AKRA headers on to remove the CAT and a PC 5 which resulted in a lot more power and much smoother bike.

Here is the baseline v all mods dyno.

Yes looks good, better spread of mid range torque, it's the smoothness that I'm looking for as the stock power is more than adequate.

Thanks

I too have my sc-project can mated to a set of acropovic headers but no pc or dyno run. First impresssions are freer reving engine and the bike feels slightly more lively when riden. Looks good too, all the springs and nice welding.

Like the look of this can. How did you get around the problem not melting the indicator?

Re;indicator melting... ive done nothing about indicator at mo. Still works so get round to it shortly. The black plastic at rear of indicator melted but the lens is ok. Gonna need a new one tho at some point.

Clear silicone sealer on the muffler pipe flange during assembly helps to avoid metal to metal picking up or fretting and eases removal next time. It's probably wise on Akra spring connected joints though mine is assembled with high temperature anti seize grease.
A little aluminium shield should be enough to protect the indicator.

Sent from a widget that can't spell.

Yeh. Tried to fabricate a small shield for indicator out of piece of scrap ali. Easier said than done. Requires shaping and a bit of patience which i aint got right now. Might just leave it and swap indicator when selling. Ive cut of the melted plastic with me stanley and it dont look to bad. Barely noticeable.

Any photos of the can fitted to your bike ? ive heard that the can is quite loud to whats your conclutions :friday

Was too tired last night after work...will install it tomorrow (Sat) when i've got more time to look at this indicator issue.

If flow hits indicator i was going to see how much movement there is in the link pipe to move muffler out and\or down...would be a case of either making a bigger spacer or small relo bracket.

If thats a no go some sort of shield for the indicator...thinking first try would be some of that stick on heat shield from the autoparts store as a temp fix to see if it works...if yes then just spray if black.

A pic of the damage to the indicator and number months of use would be cool :D

Mr white. There is of course movement in the link pipe as its an offset tube. I found when installing and positioning the end can to how i liked everything seemed fine . Later on in a mad burn with a few mates one of them spotted said melted indicator. Its not apparent when installing that it would melt the indicator as theres a fair distance between the can and indicator. Theres a lot more heat from that exhaust than appreciated especially i guess when riding hard. You may be able to fit it to a different angle than i have. Just watch that indicator

Here ya go. Only pic ive got of my lc. Mines the grey on the right. See howhigh the exhaust exit sits. Gives the indicator a good blast .20140418_144917.jpg20140418_144917.jpg

F*ck the dyno readings; they are irrelevant IMHO as wrong bike for worrying about those things.

What is sounds like is what really matters... !!!

If you look at the photos on rhe sc project webb site the can sits parralel with the sub frame yours looks a little high may be room for slight tweak might be just enough to cure the issue :rob

Tried repositioning but then it dont sit right. It pulls it to close to the wheel. Could also be the bends in the link pipe are a little to acute. But whatever i really like the look and sound. Has a raspier sound compared to my pals mivv ,but he hasnt the acra headers fitted.
