Scala Rider Teamset, anybody got one ?

Are they any good ? Do you know if they'll sync with a Zumo ?

Teamset - Yes. Seems pretty reasonable. Haven't used the passenger set as much but it came already paired to the rider kit in any case. ON the few occasions we've had them together they work okay. Have been unable to get a decent fit on either my C2 or my wife's Caberg flips as routing the microphone boom is a problem as it doesn't seem long enough especially on the C2. Works a treat on a normal full face like my Nitro N600.

Have the rider headset paired with my Nokia phone and also with the BTA II (http://cardowireless.com/BTA/) wireless transmitter to allow my Quest to talk to me wirelessly. Wouldn't pair with my old BlackBerry as the phone's seek time for pairing was too quick (!) for the headset, i.e. it stopped looking before the headset had sent the pairing signal fully.

Zumo - Dunno. Did hear that there are problems with the bluetooth connect code.... but have no personal experience.

Yes and yes. Pair the Scala with the Zumo, then pair the Zumo with your phone. All works perfectly well for me :thumb

All works fine for me - pairing the phone with the Zumo and the Zumo with the Scala Rider.

The only issue I have is that the VOX on the rider - pillion doesn't seem to work and the Zumo will cut off any rider - pillion talk. Only used the pillion unit once though so I may have set it up wrong.

Had one if theses sets. absolute rubbish - hurt your ears i-
cant hear it - cant talk to pillion at speed - threw mine away and went back to autocom

Shouldn't hurt ears if positioned correctly.
VERY LOUD if positioned correctly (can be awkward initially to find the sweet spot).
On the phone the sound quality to those listening was outstanding (they likened it to listening to a good quality Car kit and couldn't believe I was on a bike at speed).

The Bad:
The Zumo seemed to drop the connection after a call was ended (this may be fixed now??)
The boom mike could be longer (no use for the System 5).

Biggest problem is it's waterproofness.. Mine dies of a wet weekend to Skye.
Quite a few people have had a similar problem with prolonged rain killing them..

The only problem I have found is that the unit goes into a sort of sleep mode when you're not gabbing and on my system (Quest & BTA II) when the Garmin tries to give you the first of the route messages, you miss the first bit, maybe as much or as little as half the first word. When it repeats the message as it counts down to the turn it's okay.

In the old days of the Sonic bike to bike system to switch on the VOX you had to sort of make a noise then speak! Just a little rasberry to get it on then it was okay.... strange but true!

As for hurting the ears, the speakers are wafer thin and even on the C2 (on the few times I had it working) there was just enough room to fit it without fecking about with hot knives and dremels to munch away the polystyrene inner helmet. adsly, the C2's lining it impervious to velcro and the thicker toothes stuff on the back of the Scala's speaker so the bastards fall out easily. No such problems in a Nitro or the piss cheap bucket I used for the first test from Caberg.
