I'm at the end of my tether with the Interphone Tour, and it's pathetic volume, so who here has a Packtalk, and what's the volume like with the stock headphones at motorway speeds?

Any real world reviews would be good, as all the reviews I've read are from retailers.

iv got g9x use them every day for the past 4 years still going strong. i was thinking about upgrading to packtalk but the review are poor. and there not as easy to use as the g9x model

I have packtalk, the volume is good, you can mix the inputs
If i have music playing , muting the pack makes it much louder,
The sat nav overrides the voice also there is a spoken menu system ,
Its easy to create a pack , or connect to other makes of intercom non dmc,
Answering other pack members needs a spoken opener to wake vox up
It has many adjustable parameters,
Roamer

I couldn't find a bad review, as most people rave about them.:nenau

So, still clearly audible at around 80-90mph with the stock headphones?

I really like the look of the iPhone app, maid the way you can change settings with it very easily.

If you'll pardon the pun......that speaks volume to me ;)

As I mentioned on the other thread, having the facility to either plug in helmet speakers (if you prefer them) or in ear monitors (far better IMHO) is ideal.

The new base unit I've just bought for the G9x has booster pads in the kit, which is essentially some double sided foam pads to 'push' the speaker closer to the ear hole.....as long as the speakers are correctly aligned to the ear hole that should be better.......but not as good as the in ear monitors IMHO

I use Ear monitors with my G9X. Works a treat and the music quality is superb..

this was when they first came out

Nutty, I have just invested in a packtalk, seems to do the job well.

I was disappointed with the volume when trying in the house. It was loud enough but thought that the road noise would drown it out. Got it out on the road and the unit increases the volume as the speed rises, I can clearly hear tunes over 100 so I'm impressed.

Connection to garmin and phone works well (once you suss out to turn the packtalk on first before the 660).

Not tried the DMC yet but I'm sure it's better than old bluetooth.

Would I buy another......yes

Cheers Phil, good to know. I bought the twin pack today, have fitted to the helmets, so will test them tomorrow.:thumb

Plus 1 Packtalk very happy, app works well, intercom good, not tried the Packtalk bit cus my mates are cheapskate fuckwit Luddites.
They're not really fuckwits .

Has anyone had issues downloading the desktop software to a Mac? It ran through the install, said it's installed, but I can't find it anywhere on the Mac.:blast

When I plug the unit in, the Mac won't see it.:blast

+1 on packtalk its a massive leap forward from the old Q2's I have had for ever

After doing the software update on my wife's windows laptop (it just wouldn't work on my iMac), I got to spend the day trying it out today.

At first it seemed quiet in intercom mode (via Bluetooth), but I think my mate was just mumbling! We could still hear each other at triple figure speeds, so that's a bonus. We then connected via the DMC mode, which then produced more background noise, which seemed rather odd.

When he went home, I tried listening to music; the auto volume is great, and the speakers are also very good.

The only issues I had was that when we went out of range, it wouldn't automatically reconnect. I thought that this was a feature, so will read up. Is there a simple way of activating auto reconnect? It also disconnected from my phone, and was a pain to reconnect; again, I thought that it should always stay connected.

My final niggle is the flip up aerial. It gets in the way of the slider for the drop down visor, so I'll have to move the mount slightly, but why the aerial when all other units have it built in?:nenau

All in all, I like it, and am sure that with a proper read of the manual, I can sort the niggles.:thumb

Hi Nutty. Ive just got an inter phone tour this week. Tried it today and its very good. Lots of volume, good to speeds well in excess of 70mph - i imagine, officer !!!!!. Did you turn off the auto volume as described in the instructions ?.
Pairs up easily, good quality phone calls and works well with the GPS. jobs a good un. ;)

Got a packtalk but use my UEs with it ,not the standard ones.Must say that battery life is incredible, lasting over 3 days when using for 8 hours a day !!.So much better than the G9X.

Having had both I would say that the Packtalk is much easier to use than the G9X.The battery life is MUCH better and it's much clearer, especially making calls.

Yep, I tried turning off the auto volume, which I assume is where you specify jet, full face helmet, or off? I must admit, after switching it to off, I didn't road test it, as I could barely hear it in my dining room, so had lost all confidence in it actually working, and as I'm going away on Friday needed a fix quickly.

Good to know, cheers Martin. I might look at some UE's later on.

Perhaps you ought to try it again now you've turned off the auto volume. Personally, I've come from a Starcom wired system and was prepared for it to fail miserably, but it didn't. I have only tried 1 BT system before - a cardo, and this is light years ahead .

It's already gone back, as I couldn't risk it not working. As long as these small niggles with the Cardo get sorted, I wouldn't consider the Interphone again.

nutty thanks for the r and d work!,i really am glad i didnt rush into the tour purchase
