Scalia Rider Packtalk

Perhaps you ought to try it again now you've turned off the auto volume. Personally, I've come from a Starcom wired system and was prepared for it to fail miserably, but it didn't. I have only tried 1 BT system before - a cardo, and this is light years ahead .

I'm interested to know if you've ridden with other riders now that you've sorted the volume? Is the volume still very very quiet when you turn it on, but you can now hear it at high speeds? The auto volume on the Cardo is very impressive (up to 100), so I'm wondering if the Interphone is the same?

Hi nutty. Yes I turned it off part way through a long ride last Sunday when out with a mate who had the other one out of a twin pack. The volume is good up to 80mph - that's as fast as we went, but I think it will be good at higher speeds. Incidentally, 2 things to mention.
1. I wear ear plugs, so it has an effect on the volume
2. As important as volume is, I was also impressed by the quality of the sound. Very clear, and good connection to at least 400 to500 metres.

Good to know. There's s niggling voice that tells me I should have stuck with the Interphone, but mine really was crap.

I'm determined to stick with the Cardo, but the fact that it wasn't reconnecting after going out of range the other day is casting a shadow over it. I've spoken to Cardo several times this week, and they said that the PackTalk can take longer to reconnect on occasions, and that sometimes you have to press the button to get it to reconnect. One of the things I really liked about my F5MC is that it would simply automatically reconnect EVERY time after going out of range (which is a lot, as one of my mates is a bimbler and doesn't even attempt to keep up with the XR most of the time!:D).

I've changed some settings, so will see how it performs today.

Well, I've taken it back. It just wouldn't reconnect in DMC or Bluetooth mode. We stopped for an hour, fiddling around with the settings, both on the units and in the app, and they still wouldn't work properly.

I'm sure it's great if you want to connect to 10 people, but for us, it's over complicated for the sake of it. Shame, as some of the features are bloody fantastic.

Is it back to the tour then ?. If it is, download the full instructions of t'interweb as they are more useful than the quick start guide.

Yep, took it back and got the Tour twin pack. The guy said that the new Sena 10S is meant to be good, but since getting home and reading the reviews, it also has volume problems.

I'll persist with the Interphone.

If the IP F5MC was better than the tour, you could grab yourself one at a bargain price.....Oh, you've got another tour already....:green gri

I've set the Tour up, and the volume is perfect. It's packed full of features, but very simple to operate, now they have issued the full instructions!

As said, the PackTalk is a great bit of kit, but very complicated in comparison to the Tour.

I'm now in Europe and things aren't so good with the tour. I have it paired to my pal who also has a tour, and my nav 5. It seems that it gives the nav 5 priority, cutting out the intercom for long periods and I have to press the intercom switch to talk to my pal.
If I unpair the nav 5 it's fine but I miss the voice instructions.

I've never paired a headset to the sat nav, as I can zoom in and out with the wheel, so prefer to look at the map rather than have instructions barked at me.:D

I think the perfect Bluetooth intercom is a few years away yet.:rob
