On the road, for now:-)
I'm off to Paris for a few days in October, I've not driven to Paris before but have biked across northern France previously. Does anyone have any routes from Calais to Paris that would be of a scenic adventure, other than a blast along a motorway. Any ideas appreciated:beerjug:

Yes, from Calais go east until you are in the alps. Enjoy for a while then get on a autoroute and look for a sign that says Paris. :) the 'adventure' is adding 2k in miles onto a short ride......

You don't tell us if you have two hours, five, 10 or more hours to make the 180 odd mile (direct) route. So suggesting something is always tricky. This is a common fault in these hallowed pages, so don't feel bad.

First thing: Arm yourself with a 1:200000 scale map from Michelin. Look at it to imagine the sort of roads that might suggest they are 'scenic' and 'adventourous'. Go on you can do it.

Don't want to buy a map? OK. Often a good place to start (particularly without a map) is to ask Googlemaps for a direct route but avoiding highways and tolls. This gives us:

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?sadd...aris&gl=uk&dirflg=ht&doflg=ptm&mra=ls&t=m&z=8

Which might not be bad at about 170 miles.

Here's a possible rough way of going. It's not the exact route as I have just pulled Googlemap's routing tool around but it might do or at least give you a rough idea.

You can ask ViaMichelin to do the same thing, who will come up with three alternatives. You can also use the same ViaMichelin site to show you maps in a zooooooomable scale. http://www.viamichelin.co.uk/ Job done.

Me? I'd go on the Eurostar.
