Schuberth C2 & fitting Scala headset

HI, just bought a Schuberth C2 today at BMF, for a really good price -however, not too sure how to remove the cheek-pads , to allow me to velcro-in the Scala earpiece.
Has anybody already done this, and do I need to remove the 2 tiny torqx screws on the plastic flanges ? Do these hold the cheek pads in place ?

Seems a really nice helmet, and I need the Scala , as I B-Tooth it up with my Zumo sat nav, so any help much appreciated.

Thought the BMF was , overall, a bit of a let down. Far too much tat- more like a dodgy Sunday Market, with too many stalls totally non bike related IMHO.

There is an Autocom fitting guide here: http://www.autocom.co.uk/pdf/Schuberth_C2_Fitting.pdf. I don't suppose the Scala is so much different.

The short answer to your question is "Yes".

that's what I love about GS Forum, always someone who knows !...that is great, and many thanks -just the answer I needed. I'd been looking for a C2 for a while, and got mine for £200 yesterday at BMF, and was totally confused when I looked to fit the Scala. Will take a bit of fiddling, but the info helps no end.

Thanks to Paul, I have managed to fit the Scala Rider bluetooth to my C2 -not easy, and had to have nerves of steel during the "operation". Had to partially un-attach the lining, but all seemed to go back together fine. Boom arm on the mic is way too short, but have contacted Scala about this. The mic is not to the front of my mouth, but more to one side. Have to go for a ride to check it all out in anger.
It works, anyhow !!

Glad it worked - the C2 is known as a difficult helmet to wire up but time, patience, blind faith and optimism seems to work.

Schubert and Scala

I have a Schuberth C3, and have recently purchased a Zumo 650 and a Scala Rider Q2 so that I can hear the sat nav instructions, my phone, and hopefully some music. At present I don't really have need for any bike to bike comms.

Unlike Roger I haven't been unable to pluck up courage to mutilate my C3 - not after knowing how much it cost!

I have, however, recently seen some information saying that Schuberth and Scala have co operated to produce a custom fit solution for rhe C3 and Q2. It doesn't actually seem to be for sale yet, but I wonder if anyone knows about this - probably a bit late for you though, Roger. (Assume that fitting for C2 and C3 are similar).

If I could get the custom job there may well be a totally unused Scala Rider Q2 for sale on here before too long!

no not similar apparently ! The C3 has been made to be much easier to install speakers and mic into. My C2 was rather daunting, and as mentioned above took nerves of steel, and hands of a gynecologist to achieve. Plus some velcro of course.

I've had my C2 to bits a few times. Yup, you need to take out the little torx screws. Find a safe place to put em !
I found double sided tape very useful for reasembly and sticking down the lining when I had finished.

As a conclusion to my original post ; Having managed to fit the Scala headset (which only had the one earpiece), and which worked splendidly with my Zumo 660, I did have one problem however. The standard microphone and gooseneck were not ideally positioned in my C2, as the gooseneck was far too short to fit around the copious padding in the C2 chinpiece.
I contacted Scala in the States about this ( via their website), and they informed me that they would send a new "Kit". I assumed this would just be a kit to re-mount the existing bluetooth bit, and maybe some more adhesive velcro patches perhaps.

But no, the package arrived, and lo and behold, it contained a brand new kit, minus the bluetooth send/receive bit - new mic, longer gooseneck, and two earpieces. Shame my Zumo only transmits directions in mono, but never mind.
So, having fitted new kit ( ie take the C2 apart again, this time on both sides for both earpieces), the mic is now easier to position, and now sits pretty much right in front of my mouth, so 'phone call quality should be much improved for person at the other end !

What can I say, but great service from Scala USA, and I didn't even have to pay postage !!! Excellent - thanks fellas -I will sing your praises wherever.....

Yes, theysent it free, but it does NOT include the Bluetooth bit, ie the pear shaped bit you remove & re-charge.
Fitting it to the C2 IS tricky, but can be done-you have to peel back some of the lining, and slide the earpice/s in that way.

I fitted mine into my Caberg Justissimo with no real problems, by cutting into the foam near as I could get it to my ear. Mic reached OK, as the chin piece doesn't have as much padding as my nice new C2

Very pleased with Scala, excellent service, and they did get back in touch via email, after I had filled in their form on their website.
