Schuberth c3 Carbon fiber problems

I would like to share with the community the situation I am living with my wife's helmet.
The helmet fell down to the floor from the wardrobe, not to high as you can see in the last picture but with bad consequences.
Is amazing how a 1000 euros helmet can have that kind of damage for such impact.
Even we are assuming our responsibility in the accident, is difficult to understand how Schuberth in Germany tells me today that the outer shell can not be repaired and the only solution is to change it, but because of the short limited edition they have produced, it's not sure there is any spare shell available.
Conclusion: I don't know how safe is this helmet. If you are thinking to buy this helmet, think it twice.
I feel frustrated and cheated.

Thank you for your request. We please you to contact your local dealer. He will send your helmet for checking and maybe repairing to us. You also have the opportunity to contact our distributor. Therefore we please you to inform us in what country you live.

If the outer shell is damages we cannot repair the shell. It is possible to exchange the outer shell, if we have an outer shell in stock. The C3 Carbon was produced in limited edition of 2000 pieces.

Bad luck. I dropped my arai from the bike and I got the same answer from arai. So no just the Germans. Unfortunately, would you take the plunge and use it not knowing if is save?

Yes oie,

I know the solution, new helmet and different brand, but I'm going to send the helmet to the dealer first and I suppose they will ask me to send it to the factory. I do not want to give up without knowing if this piece of carbon fiber is safe.

We have bought the GSA for a three months trip from Patagonia to Alaska and took the decision to buy this helmet because it is light. We are 49 now and need to take into consideration all this things but We know now it was a bad decision. I have to look for a better one now.

Any way, thank you for your answer. I now know I am not alone.

when you said it had fallen from a wardrobe I thought it would be off the top of it and a 6 foot drop....not just 24 inches in the helmet bag.

Can you not claim against you house insurance for new lid , I did when I dropped my System 4 down a set of concrete stairs, 24 steps and rolled out across a pavement into the road and less visible damage than that .

I would try to get it tested by sone one independent and not give it back to the manufacturer so they can hide the evidence. It is unbelievable. A cheap helmet would be much better JJH

That's bad for such a small drop, I work with carbon on aircraft and we fix it all the time but to be honest with you if my helmet sustained that much damage in such a small incident I'd throw it in the bin and get different model as I'd hate to imagine what it would be like in a 30-40 mph off.

Update about the "helmet"

I have gotten an answer from the spanish distributor.

Without seeing the helmet they told me it is not longer usable. The agreement is to send them the thing and they will deliver it to Germany. In Germany they will decide what to do (?).

They have told me about a similar case two months ago and the solution was the replacement of the shell. Estimated price 200 euros.

If they tell me is not usable and they have already changed a shell with the same problem, what Germany needs to decide?

I will tell you guys about the results but if you decide to buy this helmet, be careful, this helmet can be destroyed hitting a flying bee if you go faster than 50 mph.

JJH, We have the agreement, if the shell is changed, they will send the original back to me.

I work close to the Typhoon's assembly line here in Madrid and the carbon fiber experts told me it is unbelievable. I agree with your assessment . I am already looking for a new pair of helmets.
