My C2 was finally swapped for a new silver C3 about two months ago as was beginning to leak badly. Purchased from my local dealer in Bristol, I was really pleased with the fit and lightweight nature of the C3. I always found looking around difficult in the old C2 as the chin piece caught on the shoulders of my jacket which was annoying, but due to the higher cut of the C3, I can now turn my head about with ease.
However, I have been really disappointed with the noise quality of the C3. The claims that it is one of the quietest on the market, in my experience, is just not true. It is certainly MUCH noisier than my old C2, even clipped right down. I have tried adjusting the screen on my 1200GS, but that hasn't made any difference. I am sure that the fit is right as we tried a number of different sizes before I got what I think is the best fit. It's much tighter than my C2, but that one was quite worn out.
My dealer has subsequently told me that he's had a few back and one of his customers has had ear drum trouble after wearing the C3. Another customer has apparently got Schuberth to alter the visor gasket!
Has anyone else had noise trouble with the C3 and should I complain to Schuberth? I was hoping that their claims might be right, but not in my case.
Many thanks.
Chris

I have heard from both dealers and users that the C3 is not as quiet as the C2. One dealer reckoned that in the bid to save weight the noise has increased, and that this was a problem across the board with most flip front helmet manufacturers, as they reduced the weight the noise went up slightly. I'm not sure how true this is, I have just bought a Shoei Neotec to replace my C2, I've only ridden about 80 miles in it but my first impressions are that it is no noisier than the C2 and it may be quieter.

I recently got a C3 Pro, nit had Schuberth before and my eqivalent helemt was the Multitech. The C3 is the quietest helmet I have ever had in 27 years, quality issues would seem quite strange as again it looks the best put together helmet too.

It's definetely shut properly both sides?

The biggest cause of noise on my C3 is the chin vent. I put a layer of tape over it and the noise was considerably reduced.

My C3 is a lot quieter than my old system 4 and 5, and my wife replaced her
old c2 with a c3 this year and in her opinion the c3 is a lot quieter. A problem with the visor on yours perhaps.
What your saying about the 1200 screen may be relevant, on my 1150 gs without the mra screen the c3 was constantly buffeted and noisy, on the 1200gsa it is fine. However, on my old 1100 kat it is a uncomfortable. yet my Schuberth S1 pro which is quiet and comfortable on the kat feels uncomfortable and noisy on the gsa

Absolutely on the money. I find it makes a massive difference. With the vent closed the C3 is even quieter than my old S1 Pro. With it open it can border on offensively loud.

I've noticed that the vent is especially susceptible to cross winds. On a calm day I can do 60mph (officer!) with the vent open and not notice much noise. On a day with side winds I sometimes have to close the chin vent as slow as 40mph. Motorways/dual carriageways also seem to make the problem worse, presumably because of the turbulence caused by vehicles at the side of me.

I found my C3 very loud regardless of what bike I was riding or body position. My Arai RX7 is quieter.I sent it back to the manufacturer a couple of times and they said it was fine. They also checked the fit of it on me and it was correct.Thing is,it's worth the noise to get the flip front and src collar.

I find my C3 a little more quiet than the C2 it replaced, but the wide range of experiences reported here suggest that it's very much dependent on the individual.

When you are riding put your hand over the sliding bit that operates the sun visor. This seems to be where most of the noise on mine comes from.
