Its that old question again.

I need/want to replace the helmet this year (read soon).

What am I looking for?
A flip front.
I am currently using a Caberg, but I think its noisy, so a quieter one is probably top of the list.

Anything else?

Internal sun visor with lever to operate on the side of the helmet. Not on the top like the Caberg.
Removable and washable lining. Normally wash once a year. (Err the lining:D)

Bluetooth?
Not particularly bothered by this.

Ventilation?
Yes.

So, with that brief, brief I'm drawn to the Schuberth C3 Pro, or the BMW System 6......At the moment

Both look to be a 'smoother' shell and front shape.
Both have a thin shut gap between the flip front and the shell (Compared to the Caberg, and I know its features like this that create wind noise).
Both are Pinlok ready.
Both have removable linings.
Both fit me comfortably - For a short time in the shop.

I'm leaning towards the C3 Pro. The BMW just seems to be an 'older' Schuberth version (Common knowledge - actually made by Schuberth:rob)

What else should I be looking out for?
Please help me here.:nenau

Although Schuberth claim the quietest helmet on the market, is this really true?

Should I be considering any manufacturers?

Pricing
Any special prices, deals, steals etc on either of these two?

I have a new c3 pro and an older c3, the pro is quieter and better built than the older one but still suffers with the same problem as the c3 with turbulence from the gsa screen slamming shut the visor over 40 mph.

That said my visor mod I worked out for the c3 should work on the new lid

Visor mod?? would you care to share the details maybe in picture format? :beerjug:

Getting back to the original subject, I have a C3. Great helmet, very quiet, perfect ventilation and the pillock visor works fantastic but it was a bit fiddly getting my bluetooth rigged up inside. The only issue I have with it is the fact it proper hurts my forehead. Short trips to tescos and alike ( ;) ), no problem. Anything longer than 2 hours and I'm smashing the paracetamol.

Cut the fabric away that covers the front vent, amazing what removing that small thin piece of material does. I suffered with the pain for two years before finally reaching for the Stanley knief. I thought the central strip of liner might have dropped and need gluing but not the case it stays it place. My C3 is now extremely comfortable & I will be buying another or the C3 pro when it comes time to replace it.

I had a System 6 for a couple of years but when it got damaged in an accident last year I replaced it with a C3Pro, which I've done about 8000 miles in so far. I prefer the C3Pro, IMO it's better finished than the BMW. I also find it more comfortable but it might just be the C3Pro is a better fit. It is quieter than the System 6 when I've tried it without earplugs, but not hugely so.

As always with helmets I'd say go try a few on. I also found some sizing differences between the C3Pro and the BMW, and ended up with a smaller size C3Pro than I thought I'd need.

I've not found a lot of discounted C3Pros - I'm looking for one for my wife - Helmet City has around £50 or so off some of the colours and limited stock of one colour at £399.

I changed from a BMW System 6 helmet to a C3 pro last year, and, in my honest opinion, it's a major improvement. During the first decent ride, it was quite uncomfortable, and I did wonder if I'd made the right decision - however, when I used the helmet the following day on a long trip in lousy conditions, it had "bedded - in" nicely, and I now find it much more comfortable and quieter than the BMW option. Hope this helps!

I have a system 6. Its a comfortable quiet helmet but the visor never seals correctly and in heavy rain water runs down the inside of the visor. BMW replaced the helmet once for this problem but now the replacement is starting to do the same. I would try Schuberth or Shoei.

Just bought a c3 pro last week after thinking long and hard between it and the system 6. Paid £380 for it brand spanking and its fantastic, super comfy, Pinlock works amazing you can breath as hard as you can with the helmet fully closed and visor doesn't steam up. Built in shades are ace and helmet is extremely well made....I know I've made the right choice :-)

Where did you buy from at £380?

C3 pro

Yep had one for 2 yrs 10,000 miles love it, just wish the src comms system wasn't so expensive, but radio handy.

Well update on this one.

I tried on a Shoei Neotec.

Just so much more comfortable than either the System 6 or the C3Pro.......IMO

Now the even better bit.....the price.

List price £499.99

Looked around various website / online sellers. Many of them were offering 'free TCX boots worth £199' or a helmet cleaning kit, or a helmet holdall etc.

So, I e mailed these shops and asked for their best price for just the helmet, without the 'free' gifts.

HelmetCity came up with the best price - £399 delivered.......that's £100 off list.

Ordered;)

I've been after a Neotec for a while, got in touch with Helmet City and managed to get the anthracite one, delivered to the Isle of Man for £390! Didn't want the 'freebies', ordered on Thursday, got an email from them telling me it will be delivered on Tuesday.

Get your Neotec today?

I found their delivery service very good. E mail to say its despatched with delivery date, then e mail from delivery co, DPD, saying parcel will be delivered and quoted the same date, and then another e mail from DPD in the morning of the delivery with a time, and actually arrived 1/2 hour early.

Worn mine for the first longish trip out today, 150 miles. Very comfortable and much quieter than the Caberg that it replaced. Top vent very effective keeping the top of my head cool. Its 22 C out there today!!!

Bit off track from comparing WMB and Schuberth now:D

It arrived on Tuesday as promised. Very comfortable, but haven't had a chance to try it on the bike yet, going to be a lot different to the Arai Tour X3 that I usually wear. Hope to get a chance to try it out over the weekend on a lap or two of the TT course, just to check on the works that have been done at Keppel Gate.:thumby:

Swapped my Neotec for a C3 Pro (long story ) but I've no regrets the C3 Pro is a very nice helmet, comfortable, light and quiet.

Having said that since purchasing the C3 I've found a Schuberth J1 to replace the one I had stolen, it's once again rapidly become my first choice of helmet.

Sadly no longer available new.

I have just taken delivery of a new system 6 evo, compared to my 6 year old C2 it is extremely noisy around the ear area,i never wore ear plugs with my C2 with the 6 it is a necessity, i tried the helmet on for size before buying and find it a good fit,but the wind turbulence noise is not acceptable for such an expensive helmet, i had to order my 6 as my nearest dealer did not have the one i wanted in stock so sent to me Shetland, i was really looking forward to my new helmet but am not impressed, if you turn your head to one side slightly you can feel wind on your face, does anyone else have such noise issues and draught issues or is this a normal fact of the 6.
Pi__ed off as now unsure as to what to do. Dean , Shetland.:flag
