After a bit of research and the fact that our System 4 helmets were seven years old and well past their best we decided to replace them with the Schuberth C3 helmet complete with the SRC system(Schuberth Rider Communication)

First impressions with the helmet have been very good, the helmet is comfortable and very lightweight and it's also the first time i've had a pinlock on the visor and must say that makes a huge difference. I find the mechanism for opening the helmet easy to use and the 'ratchet' type strap buckle is great. The helmet is quiet enough although and there is a wee bit of wind noise but that depends a lot on what bike you're riding aswell as screen set up etc. All in all we're very pleased with them!

We also decided to get the SRC option as in the past we'd used an Autocom rider to pillion but wanted something so we could communicate with each other bike to bike aswell.

I really must say that the SRC 'collar' is one very neat piece of work. Simply charge the collar for a few hours through the hidden USB connection and you're ready to go. Although there isn't a huge amount of room for the boom microphone to fit between the chin bar and my moosh!

Pushing the On button and the A button and both helmets are 'talking' to each other, it's as simple as that.....! The voice clarity seems good enough at 'any' speed and we soon got used to the bike to bike system and for touring it'll be great especially when we're in heavy traffic for giving directions and those all important comfort stops aswell as breaking up the monotony of those long motorway rides to get where we're going so the SRC will be great for that.

The range of the SRC bike to bike is ok but could be better but we are getting the 'up to 300 metres' and sometimes a good bit more most of the time although trees and buildings seem to effect this a lot!

I'm not so interested in the 'Buetooth' connectivity so much for my phone/ Zumo220 GPS but haven't even tried that out yet. The GPS voice prompts could be very handy though and we did use them on the Autocom/Quest set up but the zumo has a very clear screen.

As far as the SRC's built in FM/RDS radio goes I must say that it is total and utter Sh*te and a complete waste of time....Traffic Info my A*se is all I want to say.....I've tuned the radio to all the relevent radio stations 'up here' and can only say i'm very disappointed as the level of interference is very bad......!

How's everyone else finding their C3/SRC's......?

mine is okay. I use mine for the bluetooth as I listen to music and take calls as I'm on the bike for 3hrs each day. At 70mph and above it's very difficult to understand what the caller is saying and music quality isn't fantastic at any speed....but certainly better than nothing.

The helmet feels cheap to me and certainly nowhere near Arai quality which, for £700, it really should.

being used to a C2, I tried a C3 yesterday. Being a 58, I found the M a bit tight and the L deffinately too large. I wonder if the Ml will give enough?

I have owned a C3/SRC for some time now. I think the quality is fine, I had an Arai Quantum F and seems as good as that. It is light and is Ok for noise reduction. The sound quality is Ok and is much better than Nolan and Suomy that I also trialled. I really like the auto volume increase as speed rises.

I have used it as an intercom, for MP3 files, GPS directions and and phone. I think listening and talking to the phone is fine and much better than N-Com (Nolan). Agreed, the radio needs a very strong signal and works well if it has it. My radio solution is to have a DAB digital radio on the bike (bought from Maplin), held in a waterproof holder which then sends a FM signal to the Helmet. This works very well and gives crystal clear reception.

It is simply the best Helmet with combined Bluetooth on the market at present. It is not the best Helmet by itself - I agree that I would sooner buy an Arai, but the Bluetooth part is very well integrated.

I have a C3/SRC and have not had it that long. I have to say that when I first got it I thought I had made a very expensive mistake. I am a 57.5 head size and I bought (on recommendation) the 58/59 helmet. Even though it was the next size up it was F tight when I first wore it. Tighter by far than anything else I have owned. Now after about 300 miles the fit is lovely. It really does pay to get the right size.

I too think the quality is fine. The flip front is very practical. I have found the helmet itself to be very lightweight (which could account for people calling it cheap feeling) and quiet.

The lid is much more comfortable without the SRC collar but as this is very quick to remove I only use it for longer bike trips where I want music and GPS.

I find the volume and music quality acceptable (lets face it, nothing will ever be good until Bang & Oluffsen start making helmets!)

If I had any complaints at all it would be the cost of the system is probably too high.

There is a lid called the Viper RS-V131 (£149.99) which, on paper at least, is a similar spec. I have not seen one or tried one on but it may be an option seeing as the cost is much more affordable.

I've owned a C3 helmet for about 18 months. It was expensive, but it's proven to be comfortable, quiet and the integrated sun visor is excellent.

I added the SRC system earlier this year, mainly to compliment my Nav IV (Zumo). Apart from the radio which is hopeless, the only issue I'd mention is that the sound is slightly louder in one ear then the other when using navigation. The quality is much better when the Nav unit is playing music though.

It will pair with my phone quite easily as well, but I don't use it as the GSA is my way of getting away from all that.

Overall, I'm very happy with the C3/SRC.

I've also got a C3 with SRC. Bluetooth for satnav & phone is very good but radio is U/S. I think the sun visor is great.
On the whole I was very happy with everything, but did think it was a tad on the expensive side.

However, - it leaks like a sieve! - water seems to get in through the top of the visor, - runs down the inside of the visor, and soaks the lower part of the cheek pads. Can't see if any adjustment is possible. Not impressed. Will be back to supplier this week for a chat and to see what can be done about it.

my speakers have just stopped working completely so it's gone in for it's third warranty repair.

Where to? I use SmartRiders in Christchurch. Quite a ride for you but they know what they are doing.

purchased from Helmetcity...and they send it off to Oxford Products who are the importer.

What radio did you get?
I am having radio problems as well with my SRC.

Has anyone found a way of pairing the SRC with the Nav IV and an iPhone 4 and using the Ipod function on the iPhone?

The SRC instructions say to pair a phone with the sat nav and then pair the sat nav to the SRC - but if you do this you can't listen to music from the phone. To listen to music from the phone you have to pair the phone direct to the SRC but the SRC doesn't seem to be able to connect with a phone and the Sat nav at the same time.

Any ideas?

I've updated from the Schuberth website here.

It seems you can't pair the headset with a phone and the GPS - to use the phone you have to pair the phone to the GPS and then the GPS to the SRC, and by doing this you lose the iPod function, as it won#t play via the GPS. I've converted some music to MP3 now and put it on an SD card in the Zumo, so I'll see how thaty goes.

I also tried an interphone Tribe PMR radio to talk to non-Schuberth equipped riders via PMR, but the same applies - only 1 "terminal" device" ie phone, tow way radio or GPS can be paired.
