schuberth c3

I think i have found the leak the top seal is attached to a plastic trim that fits on the front edge of the of the helmet shell and that is attached by a screw in front of the swivel plates that hold the visor and the front piece now this is loose and it looks as though the water is running between the trim and shell can it be adjusted or replaced?

yes that is what is causing the leak i put some sellotape over the join between the trim and the shell of the helmet no leak :JB all i have to do is see if it can be adjusted or replaced

If all else fails, maybe it is worth wiping a thin smear of silicone sealant under the trim then screw it into place John, although not sure if there might be a reaction between the sealant and the plastic of the helmet that could weaken it?

Good luck with it, those leaks are super annoying. My System 5 used to leak from the top edge of the visor and drip rain onto my nose, bizarrely a new visor (for £55:mad:)of the same size fixed it:nenau

I agree they are crap but i have now sealed the trim with silicon gonna try it tomorrow when it has dryed properly if it works fine if not feckit:nenau

thats is complete rubbish - Schuberth are without doubt the market leaders when it comes to quality

I appreciate you are pro Schuberth given your vested interest, and the majority of their product line may indeed be top quality, even the current C3 may now be somewhat better, but you will not get many in agreement who purchased the C3 soon after it's initial release.

In my opinion, it was not the quality expected of a £400 helmet, attempts to reach out to Schuberth directly for the various visor issues went unanswered, although Oxford Products were of some assistance. Due to the issues with my "early" C3, Schuberth have literally sent me back into the arms of Shoei. This makes me neither right nor wrong, just my first, and likely only, experience of Schuberth.

I agree Schuberth are a good quality lid but as said the C3 IS NOT as well built or screwed together as the S1 or Concept and C2.

thats is complete rubbish - Schuberth are without doubt the market leaders when it comes to quality - The big problem is they produce the BMW helmets for BMW / to BMW design and they see so many flaws but BMW stick to their designs and problem helmets - The C3 is without doubt one if the best made lids available and of course the odd one gets through when you are producing 1000s of helmets per week -

We have sold in excess of 140 helmets in the past 3 months and not 1 complaint on QA -In fact the response have been nothing but praise - But please dont think Schuberth when looking at a BMW helmet

returned mine to Schuberth, it came back with a new visor, but retained all the problems, utter shite....

P.S. I still wear it, I have too, I paid so much for it...................................

i found the new visor was a slight improvement on the detent problem as i stated at the start of this thread and then found that the leak is not the visor or the seal but the trim it is attached to i have now put some black insulting tape over the trim a tempory solution to the problem,
i have made two attempts to contact schuberth with no reply,
i have had a better response from outlawbiker www.akb.ie who has posted on this subject with no liability as i did not purchase the helmet from them and is prepared to look at the problem i get the impression that it is the early models with the faults not the ones that were made later i think schuberth's handleing of this has been abismal.

I got the helmet from Performance Triumph Gloucester road Cheltenham it was more than twelve months ago cant remember the exact date with out the reciept as i said the garantee was expired before i discovered the leak.
thanks for your efforts to find a solution

Same Issue

I have had the same experience as yourself John: bought my C3 in July 2009 as I had slid down the road with my C2 a couple of months previous. I have done around about 15,000 miles with this helmet now in all weathers. My experience is that it is not a patch on the C2 in terms of reliability. In fact if the C2 didn't look as dated as it does I may have bought another. I get water ingress just as you describe, yes I perform that final click to lock the visor shut but will still see a drip of water dribble down the inside of the visor. I believe that the vent at the top of the lid catches water serves it directly to the seal for the visor. Never managed to sort it did mention it to Schuberth along with a list of complaints about the SRC system. No action other than take it to Custom Lids where I bought it. Thing is to do anything I would have to send it away and I ride my bike 6 days a week and don't have resources to buy 'spare helmets' while the issue is examined. Also for the cost, around £70-80 for visor and pinlock insert that I bought on May 31st this year, that is also steaming up along the lower seal of the pinlock. Altogether the C3 is quite disappointing. Schuberth need to address customer service by opening a forward facing shop not channelling sales through 3rd parties who may not have the authority to examine and replace there and then. I like another person on here have bought into Schuberth for nearly £700 with the STC system; I wish I had that this knowledge prior...

shuberth =crap quality binned the one i bought new as it was just rubbish no quality no confidence frustration _________bin
back to shoei

Agree, C3 is a load of crap...bought mine from Infinity in Farnborough....on the ride home experienced all the issues...leek, visor not staying in place....took it back 3 days later in total frustration.

Infinity were fantastic, no problems, swapped it out for a new shoei quest (i know it's not a flip front ....best lid I have ever had..sooo light and soooo quiet) plus got the difference back.

Thumbs up for infinity

Every body else ....buy a C3 at your peril....you have been warned.

C3

I.m.h.o, any person buying ANY Schuberth helmet is throwing good money after bad. I bought a C2 and when i took it out of the box i noticed that 1 of the torx screws that hold the cheek pads in place was loose. I then had more problems within months. Firstly BOTH anti roll off straps became detached from the shell. Hein Gerricke sent it back to the importer for repair. When it eventually came back it had been repaired , BUT the sun visor would not come down. So, it went back for repair again. This time twhen the helmet came back it would not close, as they mechanism was not lined up correctly. There where other faults of a minor nature, but when I contacted the importer direct, all I got was disinterest. During one phone call I was told that I had to accept that as with any manufacturing process there is always a percentage of products that are below standard.
WRONG. IF I AM PAYING SCHUBERTH MONEY I EXPECT TOP QUALITY.
needless to say eventually an agreement was made with the dealer and the helmet was returned.
Wont be buying Schuberth again.

Disappointed to read all this. On my second C2 now and was considering buying a C3 - methinks I'll have to reconsider - any suggestions?

Like others here I emailed Schubert about a problem (rattling sun visor) but got no response. Bad form :tosser
