I want to buy one of these, a Schuberth J1:

Anybody know if they are avalible in the UK yet? Infinity has them listed as 'coming soon', but no dates.

(And before anybody comments about spending money unnecessarily on shiney new toys as seems to be the way at the moment, my old Roof Boxer is over 6 years old, smelly - despite washing - and falling to bits, so, yes, I actually NEED a new helmet. :dabone :D :D )

I finally managed to try on a Schuberth J1 at the Manchester Gmex show and found out my size (58/59) I was told by staff of South East Superbikes (helmetcity.co.uk) at the show that supplies are very limited at the moment, all he had was matt black, he said he should have more colours in 2 months time.

By the way his price at the show was £299, you could try ringing Graham Dobney on 01959 577 911

Don`t get one of those if you like riding with your visor up alot.

I like the idea of this.
Could anyone post when they get one and let us know of your impressions.

Sorry for the part hi-jack DH :beerjug:

Can you tell us more Lukate, or have I missed something obvious?

I normally ride with my visor down, but I like an open face helmet, hence my Roof Boxer. What I like about this helmet is the removable chin bar which, I am led to believe, qualifies it as a full face helmet, and the flip down dark visor for those low-winter-sun moments.

The local bike shop I use has them in stock. They're based in Cannock.

Got a name of the shop so I can give them a ring?

Thanks,

David

The shop in Cannock is called Motorcycle Essentials. You can phone them on 01543 500123. Olly or Justin will sort you out.

The Schuberth helmets are very good quality but are designed to be very aerodynamic "with the visor down". When the visor is up it is very flexible and on a bike at anything above 10mph it will wobble around all over the place because the hinges are too small. I bought one and found that at 40mph, visor up, it vibrated my head so much I couldn`t see! I got a new lid  You can see in the pic above that the visor sits very high from the helmet structure when up. Not good for aerodynamic stability :nono

Well that’s a genuine bit off feedback, cheers Lukate. Personally, I don’t ride with the visor up (Arai SZ) there never seems much point in raising it, unless it’s to talk to someone at the lights. And misting has never been a problem.
So I’m not put off the helmet, just need to find £300 before spring (plus another £200 for tyres)

Well, I've finally ordered one and it should be through next week sometime. I'll post my thoughts when I've tried it for a week or so.
