I recently purchased the 'newest of the new' BMW helmets (I think it is called a 'System 6') and a BMW Communicator II Bluetooth system to go with it.

I had the Bluetooth system installed by the BMW dealer, who charged dearly for the installation. After riding for about 1,000 miles, I began to wonder if the Bluetooth system was properly installed (physically installed - it worked fine electronically) because the darn charging cable kept digging into my neck, regardless of how or where I stowed it.

So... whilst riding past Magdeburg, Germany, I figured it would make sense to stop in at Schuberth's world headquarters there, and ask someone if they would mind taking a look at the helmet assembly and seeing if there was any discrepancy between the physical installation and the installation design specification.

I never got past the gatehouse.

The security guard on duty called someone within the company, who told me on the phone to "go back and visit my BMW dealer". I explained that I already had done that, the BMW dealer sincerely believed that the components were properly assembled, but the power cable kept digging into my neck. I asked if someone from Schuberth who might be familiar with the design of the system would simply look at the helmet and see if it was properly assembled - I emphasized that I did not expect them to make any repairs or alterations.

Nope, no hope. I then asked to have my inquiry escalated to the manager, who told me over the gatehouse phone (in the most polite way possible) to fcuk off, and that no-one from Schuberth would provide me with any assistance, comments, or observations whatsoever. In fact, no-one would even come out to see me at the gatehouse, let alone admit me to the company reception area.

Do you think I will ever buy a Schuberth product again? Not friggin' likely.

Same to me

I once emailed them from Germany and said I was in Germany and wanted to sell their products. They replied feck off and dont even think about coming to factory we will not let you in !

You would have no doubt got the same treatment if you turned up at the headquarters of the new Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, Triumph etc. That's what they provide the dealer network for.

did you purchase it direct from Schuberth? I think not, - you purchased it from one of their appointed dealers who are appointed to deal direct with customers. Schuberth are a manufacturer not a retailer therefore they give margin (money) to dealers for the sole reason of dealing with the public!

"I e-mailed them to become a dealer"....:blast ...and you were surprised that they rejected you...? Ever heard of exclusive contracts to distribute?

Get real guys, understand how business is done before spouting off.

Had a problem with an old Quest 2 GPS some years ago. Luckily I was near Southampton so went to Garmin's HQ to see if I could get it sorted. They were very helpful and pleasant, gave it a test, checked the software and even gave me a coffee.

Excellent service, unfortunately the Quest 2 was plain rubbish :D

Some companies can look after their customers :thumb2

That might be so... but I drive a Volkswagen, not a Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, or Triumph.

Here's a post I made in another forum that shows how VW treats their customers when they visit the VW factory, which just happens to be down the road a little way from Schuberth, in Dresden: Owner GTG - Dresden, Germany. You can see my moto in the far right of the first picture at the top of that thread (I keep my car in Canada, it would have been too much of a PITA to bring it to Europe).

I for one wont buy one NOW:rob

Not a main company but I once had the misfortune (stupidness) to ride off with a disc lock on a cbr 1000.

A passing van picked me up, took me and my bike to Carlisle about 20 miles away, tried to get part, no joy until next day so put my bike in safe storage, took me home and let me kip, returned and picked up bike next day, got part delivered to their place, took me bike and part to local independent bike place and got me back on road.

It was a Honda CAR dealership wagon and the free bed was provided by service manager.

I didn't wake up with a sore arse either.

Top people and saw it as part of their duty under the Honda umbrella, manager and wife still friends to this day.:thumb

Evidently you didn't view the post I cited to see how VW treats customers who visit their factory... ;)

Correct. I don't think you're comparing eggs with eggs. Sounds like you don't want to listen to anybody else's opinion bar from those that agree with you. So get back on your high horse and do another V feckin W visit.

So did you turn up unnounced at VW with 20 other owners? If you did and they set up a Police escort, group meeting with an exec, a factory tour and then a posh dinner and piss up then I'd buy a VW tomorrow........if not then your post is re VW absolutely irrellevant to your original whinge about Schuberth.

Oh and I don't blame Schuberth for ignoring you.
