I'd sort of forgotten about the J1 but then I saw one in the for sale section, bit of a gamble I know buying a second hand helmet but fortunately all turned out well and it was delivered to my door yesterday morning.
It was lashing down with rain yesterday and I've always thought the true test of a helmet can only be carried out in the worst of weather!
On with my wet weather gear ( neotec in the top box) and off I go for about a 100 mile jaunt.
First impression is... fairly comfortable...feels a little lighter than my Neotec...chin bar thing is a bit of a pain...WOW!! the amount of vision,it would be no better if you didn't have a helmet on.
On the road...still lashing it down...doing around 20mph,the J1 mists up almost immediately,I would have preferred not to crack the visor as I don't want water running down the inside of the visor, but I have no option, visor cracked mist clears up straight away.
I approach several junction on the way out of town and the vision up the road that this helmet allows is truly remarkable.
I then realise that I've had the visor cracked for a good 10mins in heavy-ish rain and not one drop is running down the inside of the visor.
Out on the open road visor back locked down and no issues with misting,it's very quiet under 70mph but does get a little noisy over those speeds, but what I do notice is,there is absolutely no buffeting no one drop.
I'm starting to like this lid.
Still lashing it down but what strikes me is,I haven't had to wipe my visor,it would appear that the shape of the visor encourages the water to run straight of it,I later discovered that if you do get some build up on the visor lift your head up slightly and the airflow just blows it all off...Brilliant
So after 110mls in rubbish weather what did I think??
Didn't like the chin bar,not easy to get the helmet on and off but it's the only negative I can think of after a relatively short test.
Comfort...became more comfortable as I got used to it.
Vision...WOW.
On the road...I never had a helmet that performed as well as this in adverse conditions.
In short,it's early days yet but I would think this is most probably the best alround helmet I've owned.
