looking to replace my shoei xr800 with a flip front I own a caberg as a second helmet but its crap in the rain & made to a price so dont use it much & should have saved the money & waited.
But what do you lot reckon the the one to go for is any advice & recomendations please.

when I grow I want to be a gs dakar yellow 1150R

I have a Schuberth and it's a nice lid.....a bit noisy...but very comfy....better than the x-lite flip i had before.

If I'm just nipping out on a local run or looning about i wear my Roof boxer.....its just so much...er, easier......not as comfy by far, in fact if wear it for more than three hours at a time it gets quite painfull.....so the Concept wins on the long runs.

The Schuberth won't take Autocom speakers without a bt of cutting about.....the speaker holes are there, but not quite big enough.......

The visor isn't great in that it just won't stay open properly for me....so its a bitch in very cold/rainy weather at speed......but otherwise it's very good, and i do like the sunvisor shield, even if it is a bit fiddly to find the lever sometimes.

I'm not taking it to Land's end or on the E.European trip though......I'm wearing my Tour-x for that.....apart from the d-ring fastening (grrrrrrr!!) it's even better than the concept.....though I must admit I haven't yet poked around inside to see what the Autocom fitting's going to be like.

Haven't tried the system 4....though I believe it's made by Schuberth as well so apart from the price, I don't think there are too many differences.

SHOEI SYNCROTEC II

The only flip up helmet with the positive features of full face helmets.
similar weight as a full face helmet due to the multi-fibre construction
open the helmet with one hand
the unique CX-1 technology allows to change the shield within seconds

I got my Syncrotec on recommendation from a bike copper who has to use a helmet everyday.

A lot of money but money well spent, quality kit.

I have both and I prefer the Schuberth. There`s more room in front of my face and I love the flip down sun visor.
The Concept is noisy but the Shoei is`nt much quieter IMO

New Schuberth model soon

Any one know anything about a new model Schuberth due this Spring?

Regards

Tim

Concept 2 or 'C2' is already showing on the German website Ned, not sure about release date in UK though - probably when SPC have sold all their C1's.

Speak to Carl Worrall at Pidcocks Mapperley he has some dark visors for the syncrotec, just right for my spain trip later in the year.

Cheers Gaz, funnily enough that’s where I left an arm and a leg in payment for my lid!

System 4

Bought a system 4 about a month ago and have been impressed by the amount of visibility I get. I don't have any problems with noise, but have not tried it in the rain yet. My local dealer let me try before I chose, so was able to do a direct comparison between my AGV and a couple of others.

I use a system 4, i do find it a bit noisey, I SAID I DO FIND IT A BIT NOISEY, but it suits the shape of my head ?, i like the way it only takes seconds to change a visor or take the chin piece off and turn it into a full face , would be good to have the shuberth sun visor though,

;)

shoei syncrotec

The shoei syncrotec fit's my bonse luverly.
one handed flip open/ 30sec to change viser/ seat belt type strap locked & unlocked with gloves on.
slightly noisey but not uncomfortable.
tryed the caberg crap fit.

I've used both and would say they are both very good. I bought the Schuberth just because it fits my head slightly better.

My best advice is to try to borrow one of each for a day and see how you get on with them!

If you can't do this, go to your local stockist and try one on for AT LEAST 10 mins. You'll feel like an idiot walking around, but you'll get an idea of where it pinches, presses and rubs.

The Schuberth is supposed to be really good for people who wear spectacles (I'm told - I don't have specs!) as the visor can be nudged forward a couple of mm to allow air in to stop your specs misting up!

Thanks for the advice gents I will take a look at the syncrotech as I really do like my present shoei xr800 so I may get on with it better thanks again Malc
