....have a Carbon fibre S1, it's very light, and it's very quiet....it's quite big though (i mean the shell is big, the helmet only just fits in my topbox where as my arai fits in easily) ...
I've got the normal S1, yes it is large and whilst I used to fit the OGK and my wife's Shoei into my E36 Givi top box I can't get the S1 & the Shoei in. It always was a tight fit and GIVI say the E32 only takes one helmet so I can't complain although it's a bit of a pain now. The S1 has a large shell with the chin bar quite far forwards and the shell is deep compared to Arai & Shoei whose helmets are getting shallower with every new model.

Read on a dutch forum (via Babelfish:) ) that the only way to get pinlock on a Schuberth is to soak the visor in hot water to get rid of the anti-fog, then install a pinlock visor using one of the DIY kits. I assume you could also choose to try a fogcity.

I've found that the S1 can fog up in slight rain or even dry conditions in the summer with the visor down at standstill. I don't think its going to be up to the winter:mad:

I've arranged with Schuberth in Germany to pick up a Pinlock S1 visor from their rep, who will be at the BMW Festival @ Garmisch, next weekend.

The Scuberth S1 Pinlock visor is a completely different item from the standard one they have told me and you shouldn't use a DIY Pinnlock on the Standard anti-fog coated visor.

Their technical assistance has been superb from Schuberth in Germany..........pity I couldn't say the same about Tran-Am/Headlynz in UK..........their information on Schuberth/Pinlock is not much cop

Schuberth germany

Jonny can you give us the contact details in Germany? I have a pinlock on order through Infinity but they are being given no info by Headlynz and i reckon we'll be lucky to get a supply over here by winter. It would be interesting to speak to a rep in germany direct.

I'll update on the situation in 2 weeks time on my return from hols, after I've spoken in person to them.

Seems after speaking to Headlynz, that they haven't a clue what's going on.

So emailing now, will only get the same response, go to your UK importer, let me get some details from a German supplier

Here is a link to a page where somebody describes putting a pinlock into a C2 visor....looks straight forward. Dodgy translation...but you can get the picture.

Checked this out via your later posting but be warned. Although I got most of the antifog coating off the inside of the visor by soaking in very hot soapy water I haven't been able to get it all off so there is a vague line just out of my normal field of vision. This might be more of a problem when the pinlock is fitted, I just don't know. I've resorted to trying to scratch the coating off with a thumb nail and eventually gave up. It is a spare/faulty visor, I wouldn't do this normally with something costing around £40!

Seems like its worth waiting for the genuine Schuberth Pinlock. Thanks for your offer of an update Jonny. Have good hols.

Reply from Schuberth re. availability of S1 pinlocks:

We have the pinlock visor on stock, and if headlynz does not have them, they can order them from us.

Reply from Pinlock re. S1:

Schuberth applies an anti-fog coating on their standard shields, which reacts with the material of the Pinlock. That's no option. For the Schuberth S1 helmet you can buy from Schuberth a specially treated replacement visor with Pinlock installed. For the Concept/C1/C2 helmet there is no Pinlock available, unfortunately.

Headlynz

Yes I've had a similar response from Schuberth - see below:

Hello Nigel,

Thank you for your email. Headlynz just has to order the S1 pinlock visor and we will despatch them immediately.

Best regards
Bettina

So is the problem just with Headlynz. Infinity say that Headlynz claim they are not available. I'll ring Headlynz or Infinity tomorrow. Lets hope we are a bit better at organising the Olympics!

Walked up to the Schuberth stand at Garmisch and picked up my pinlock visor from the man as arranged - €69 :yikes

Just hope I now like the helmet I haven't bought that it fits then

Shame they were worse than useless with sorting out my Concept 1 water ingression problem. According to the Schuberth rep for Southern Germany I should take the helmet to Germany to a Schuberth dealer for attention!!

Rip off!!!

Here is an email from Infinity in Portland St W1. They have been incredibly helpful but are shocked at the price Headlynz are quoting:

Nigel,

I have received some information today from Headlynz regarding the
Schuberth S1 pinlock visor. The price of the 'pinlonck' shield will be
approximately £89.99. The visor equipped with pinlock posts to take the
pinlock shield will be £39.99.

To be honest, I was quite shocked by the price of the pinlock shield. I
did ask them to double check the price, but it came out the same.

So, if you would like a pinlock equipped visor for your S1 helmet, it will
cost £129.98. I would need to take payment prior to ordering as previously
dicussed. I would expect delivery to be mid to late September as Schuberth
will close for the month of August.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news ref. the price.

Let me know if you would like to go ahead.

Kind regards,

Cormac.

Guys that is almost three times the price in Germany. Whats going on?! Makes my blood boil.

I'd send that e-mail straight to Schuberth in Germany as I think they have deffo got that wrong.

Sadly I can see the anti-fog equipped being about £65 all in which still makes it £10-£15 more than Germany.

Failing that sweet talk an EU based UKGS'er to fence one for you. Just glad I got mine when I was over there now :(

RIP OFF BRITAIN OR WOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bloody hell.............that's extortionate.

I only paid £250 for the S1 new in UK, so that Pinlock S1 visor in UK would be 50% of the my helmet cost............they can stick their prices............

I thought 69 Euro's (£47/48) for the whole job lot was pricey (visor/posts/insert all connected and ready to fit) in Germany, however it seems a bargain. Glad I made the effort to get one there.

I won't be buying in UK again and will purchase a spare in Germany

The Pinlock S1 Visor seems good, however I haven't tried it in rain yet, but having used Fog City for years, Im not anticipating a problem, but you never know...........
