Hi Everyone!

The Premier of the Scooters in the Sahara film is showing at the Apollo cinema in Carmarthen on Monday the 26th of September at 7.30pm. Its only £5 a ticket and all the money goes towards to Charity. To buy tickets go to www.apollocinemas.com or call the ticket line on 08712206000

The film is an hour highlights version of what will be a 5 part series realised on DVD just before Christmas. The money from the premier will go towards producing the DVD's. This means when you by a DVD every penny (not profit only) will go to the Bansang Hospital appeal!

Please show your support for this as UK GSer is where it all started!

There will also be free parking for motorbikes next to the cinema, this is in a pedestrian zone, so please respect that and ride at walking pace.

Hope to see you there!!

Tom

If only I was a bit closer I would pop along. Good luck with the launch. Look forward to the dvd release!

could have sworn i already wrote a reply to this?

As one of Toms fellow travellers i can only say Go to this Movie! :rob
It promises to be a warts and all, full and frank view of what it's really like to do this trip, with a diverse cast of characters :augie that have no fear of saying exactly how it was for them and how they felt about the trip and their... travelling companions.
There will be highlights, lowlights, tension, drama and a rubber chicken.*

*no chickens were harmed in the making of this movie. some humans got mild abrasions - and one was nearly lynched. ;)

Every penny goes to the hospital apart from postage - and i might be able to cover that myself.

Fair play to Tom - he put heart, soul and every spare minute he had, for six months into producing it!

Thank you Tom. :clap

With £15 form every DVD going to the Bansang Hospital appeal, it can really make a difference, sell 1000 copies and the operating theatre can be rebuilt saving peoples lives every day, a further 2000 copies will allow another theatre to be built and the staff accommodation improved. The DVD is a 2 disc set including 5 episodes and extra features.

The Scooters in the Sahara DVD is the documentary of 9 men as they travel from the UK down through Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal and finally to the Bansang Hospital in The Gambia.

The journey was 4000 miles over snow capped mountains and through the Sahara desert its self, but what makes the journey truly remarkable is it was done on 90cc Scooters! As well as the 7 scooters there was a support truck driven by Ian and a Honda Benley 200cc, driven by Tom the trips cameraman. There goal was to reach a small hospital in The Gambia, which services a population of over 600,000 people. Once there the Scooters will be used to as a vital tool, giving doctors the ability to get out to the patients that can’t get to the hospital, and a way of collecting blood.

The DVD tells the warts and all story of this trip, including crashes, arguments, and touching moments. Following the group from the planning stages right though the demanding trip.

Tom Woodrow who made the DVD and is the camera man for the up and coming Dakar Diaries with Danny John-Jules and Graham Hoskins is also available to for talks, lectures and question and answer session at your club or event. This is done without charge as an opportunity to sell copies of the DVD and create awareness of the great work done by the Bansang Hospital and the Scooters in the Sahara project.

Lastly if you would like to donate in any other way or find out more about the Bansang hospital please visit:
