:aidanHi
looking to do some touring in summer / also looking to eventually move
up to scotland, can anyone reccomend somewhere that could fit the bill,
prefer some where thats not full american tour, est but not to far from large town,
thanks
steve.

depends what you're after I live in Morayshire which is 45 miles from Inverness and has some lovely coastal villages such as:

Hopeman; Findochty; Lossiemouth.

Your best bet is to go on Google maps and look at satellite images of Peoples suggestions.

Have a look at North Berwick, 30 mins from Edinburgh, but according to a recent survey it's the most expensive place to buy a house in Scotland.

costal / villages ,

So
far i been to uig / skye /portree / on the west coast
bodham , gardenstown , peterhead ,east cost, ft agustas / ft william ( i know not costal )would,nt mind going up
the west coast bit further next time ,and then across down the east ,back home, don,t want to see to much as it will spoil the overall plan if see

If you need/want to be near a large town then you need to stick with either Ayrshire on the west coast or look at the east coast where there are more large towns close by. West coast is usually more scenic mind you but less populated the further you go up. The weather can suck on the west cost as well but hey you dont come to Scotland for the weather.

You've been to Peterhead ? Not the one with the Prison surely ?:eek

I would recommend Fife, in particular North East and the East Neuk.

North Berwick would be my recommendation, I love the place and it's a quick stomp to Edinburgh if you so wish...:beerjug:

Anstruther would come a close second because the Fish and Chips are awesome....:D

when I was growing up (cough) near Dunfermline, in Fife, I remember East Wemyss and West Wemyss (pronounced 'Weems') were very nice. Right on the Firth of Forth and close to Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline, St Andrews and Edinburgh.

Probably get a view of the Forth Bridge as well. It's real purty. Seriously. :thumb2

What a small world. My Gran / Uncle / Aunt / Cousins etc live in Newcastle Under Lyme and my Brother lives in Kirkcaldy.

We're not related are we :P ?
