Scotland, Cold wet and utterly brilliant

Great write up... I've just seen the video of the eeerm fast road. . I'm off up there for 4 days start of August. If I had any holidays left I'd be asking to tag along in September aswell.

Great write up and looked like everyone had a ball, shame about the weather but guess it made it the trip it was. May look at September if dates suit.

Great report Rick,
I have yet to tour Scotland, I would like to follow your route sometime this year.

did something very similar about a week before you !!!

In fact I have two more or less identical pictures from your day 2 ….we had more snow though :rob

Good report thanks ,we are off there tomorrow for a long weekend on the bike and after reading your report I'm hoping for a little better weather and maybe that you have not eaten all the scones .
:thumb

We were there the week before as well :thumb2

I know this may sound crazy to a South Yorkshireman but I'll give it a go anyway :augie

If you are doing the route again later in the year, save up and pay extra  for the ferry crossing from Skye to Mallaig.

The road from Invergarry to Skye is FAST (watch out for unmarked plod).

The road from Mallaig to Fort Bill is FAST on a corkscrew. Some bends have no end. :D

Went up there end of April, and that road is a bit of a shocker now, so many pot holes, it makes it hard to get into the flow.

Hopefully like some of the other roads when we were up there it will be getting resurfaced soon.

Thats the A87 through Kyle of Localsh over skye bridge ….yep well worn in places

The road surface from Invergary to eiean donan was pretty good from there to Sky bridge was a bit tatty ! but hey Semi active suspension sorts it all out

Yes A87, But was thinking the section of road that takes you parallel with Loch Cluanie heading into Ratagan, that used to be billiard smooth. Was best bit of road around in my view you could see through all the bends and good sweepers.

Rerick: Not sure if they do active suspension on my r100gs :thumby:

Having found (frustratingly) on other trips my Schubeth SRC won't pair with my mates...... may I ask the question what comm's , BLuetooth stuff did you use ?

Those of us with coma used autocom with kenwood radios and ptt.
You need a Bluetooth module for the autocom if you have a nav 5

Reliable coms !

Great write up...
Thanks for sharing your trip with us...
