Scotland to Morocco 2007

This has been a most enlightening experience. I sure that there must be parallel websites criticing people for allowing companies to build you a house/car/bike where you would be better doing all the work yourself, allowing companies to fly you to various destinations where by simply doing your PPL so could fly yourself to various destinations (like some of my friends do).

Further, some of us, me included, spend an almost obscene amount of money on a 'hobby' others find difficult to understand. But that's life. I will continue to make choices that suit me, whatever advice is given (accepted and rejected), spend whatever I like on whatever I want and accept the consequences of my decisions.

So I will go to France in March, go to Prague in April, go to France in July and go to Morocco in October and have a bl***y good time - no regrets

Hopefully those that make different choices have an equally rewarding year

Well said, it's good to share our ideas and reasons for doing what we do. I can see you've thought a lot about what you want and why you want it :clap

Gordon,

Don't take it as a critisism, mate. This is UKGSer. Advice, opinions and a healthy bit of piss taking are all free. :D

We love people who spend obscene amounts of money too. If you like, you can show this side of you when the bill for coffee arrives at Blair Atholl ;) :D

See you later this morning :thumb

Soonds like yer gettin a bit feert Ronnie. Im sure Gordon wilnay duff ye up when he sees ye at Blair. :)

Gettin paranoid noo. Bike 'mysteriously and suddenly' packed in this mornin. Changing all the locks in the hoose. See some sad pics on the 'Glenshee' thead

Why don't you all just do it yourself?

It's not hard and much more satisfying knowing you travelled there without the help of a company.

Morocco is a French speaking country and the roads are the same as any you'd find in Europe.

Get out there and do it. Don't be lead :thumb

Like others have said, time and convenience is a major factor for a lot of folk.

Also, a lot of us have never ventured very far afield, so going with an organised group is a good way of 'breaking yourself in' to travel to countries wot dont spek english like wot we do. When I have saved up enough pennies I will join Fanum on one of his tours so I can have a good time, see other countries and have my hand held (figuratively speaking) through all the paperwork and border crossings. Then I will have enough confidence to 'go it alone'. :thumb

What you need is a "support Landrover" following you around ;)

Sorry to hear about your bad luck Gordon, hope it's not too serious :)

GS'ers 'Technical gurus' are great. Looks like a failure of the electronic ignition trigger unit. Glad it happened in Whitburn instead of Morocco although the Moroccans are probably more friendly.

Cheers

Sorry to hear of your gremlins. You missed a cracking day out, Gromit :thumb

And here is what a gremlin looks like - bit of rust and a corroded wire (and £164.50 to get a gremlin-free one!). Hats off the Steptoe and chums for their help in diagnosing the problem.

Cheers
